April Newsletter

We are busy planning for the June Summit, measuring our impact this past year, and planning next year's efforts! I know we are not alone, and that the months of April and May are busy for educators, both celebrating this year's efforts (including graduations!) and making plans for the upcoming summer and school year. We hope you find some time for yourself as well, perhaps taking time to enjoy the beautiful spring days!

As teachers continue to look for social emotional learning resources, TREC has developed a SEL resource list to share with educators. Check out the list below or find it here

TREC Teacher Leader Spotlight

Each year, the AZ K-12 center recognizes five Arizona teacher leaders at their annual Teacher Leadership Institute. This year, TREC Teacher Leader Danielle Swartz was invited to be one of this year's Teacher Leader Spotlights based on her teaching experience and work as a TREC teacher leader. Her story will be shared through written publication, a video of her classroom, and interview, including an Ignite presentation by Danielle.
The theme of this year's AZK-12 Institute June 13th-15th is "New Possibilities Through Connections and Experiences."
TREC Teacher Leader Lori LaRussa coordinates the Odyssey of the Mind program at her school.  Odyssey of the Mind is an international problem solving competition that teaches students to be creative, collaborative, and to problem solve.  This year Innovation Academy had six teams compete in the regional competition, three teams advanced to the state competition, and now those three teams will compete in the world competition held in Ames, Iowa in May.  Way to go Lori, her students, and all who helped make this possible!  They will also be recognized by the Amphi Governing board this month.
