Portraits of three women
On 8 March, we celebrated how women are breaking down gender barriers through our programme delivery. As mothers, health workers and community leaders, these women are helping to prevent, diagnose and treat malaria and other communicable diseases in their communities. Their roles are vital in ensuring good health outcomes for everyone including women, households and villages.
We believe that empowering women is essential to deliver Sustainable Development Goal 5 – the achievement of gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls. When disease burdens and gender barriers are reduced, everyone can thrive.
