Alumni Homecoming 2022 Recap

Homecoming this year was one for the record books as it had been two years since we had been able to gather in person. This event proved to be very special and was held for the first time in the Winter hoping for larger crowds of northern alumni who wanted to enjoy the sun and warmth that is St. Petersburg in February. The weather and activities did not disappoint.
Alumni weekend kicked off with the 50th Anniversary Celebration for Charlie Duke’s Walk on the Moon in 1972 on Apollo 16. A cocktail reception and dinner with a jazz quartet were held to honor Charlie’s historical moment. The evening was hosted with retired NASA astronaut, author, and former Farragut’s parent, Nicole Stott, who commemorated Charlie’s career at NASA through images and video and explained the close friendship that has developed over the years.

Admiral Farragut Academy Names Ashley Patterson Beaty Chairwoman

Admiral Farragut Academy is pleased to name a new Chair of its Board of Directors. Ashley Patterson Beaty will succeed Christian Wagner who is leaving the board after 10 years of dedicated service, 7 of which as Chair.
Patterson Beaty takes the helm as not only Farragut’s first female Chair but also its youngest. The historic college prep academy is confident in Beaty’s fresh ideas and strategic vision for the future of Admiral Farragut Academy. Ashley’s appointment comes as AFA embarks on a new strategic plan.
Outbound Chair Christian Wagner said, “Ashley is a proven achiever and leader, she is passionate about our school and its mission. Ashley is exceptionally well prepared to lead Admiral Farragut Academy into the next chapter of its storied history.”

Congratulations to Dr. Adam Holden on his recent formal in-person graduation ceremony from the University of Cambridge!
After extended delays due to the global pandemic, Dr. Holden was invited to the Senate House at the University of Cambridge, to be formally recognized by university dignitaries for his second Doctorate in Education, a terminal degree in education for his research in marginalized communities within the Central American country of Panama. Dr. Holden worked extensively with the Panamanian Ministry of Education and Instituto Alberto Einstein on technology in education.
