Dear friends, it’s been a minute!

2 years to be exact. Let me catch you up!

After about a year and a half of scraping by in the midst of the pandemic, I finally got an offer to return to the ships as a show band musician while the cruise industry slowly opened back up. Well, all I can say is that it was an adventure!

Once the Omicron variant started tearing through the world, it also started tearing through the ship. Policy was for crew and guests to quarantine for testing positive and for close contact, but no one thought it would get so out of control. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, then we found out that our parent company had gone bankrupt, all future cruises were canceled, and we were out of a job. Without any warning whatsoever.

As we were ending the last cruise, we had to divert away from Miami and disembark guests in Bahamas instead, because (we later found out) the US Marshals had an arrest warrant out for the ship. We stayed in Bahamas until the law caught up with us and we had to escape to international waters. We stayed there as long as we could, but our fuel eventually ran out and we were forced back to the Bahamas where the ship was boarded and seized by the authorities. We stayed anchored for a month off the coast of Freeport waiting for the litigation to finish which would allow us to finally get off the ship and finally go home.

It was one of the most surreal experiences of my life. I would walk around a completely dark and empty ship, without any guests and half the crew in quarantine, running from the law in international waters. It would have been exciting if it wasn’t so traumatic. Our unbelievable story even made international news. You can even google it if you want.

So, what’s next?

Well, after several years of loyalty to this specific company, and after unceremoniously being sacked, I realized that loyalty to a corporate entity was perhaps not the best way to grow a career in music.

I also realized that I have been seriously neglecting my friends and fans in this wonderful world of music, and so I intend to rectify that.

Starting today, I intend to keep you all much more updated with my music and my adventures. I will try to send out a Monthly Email (instead of every two years), and I will try to grow my fan base and my network of collaborators and colleagues. Although it was a grand adventure, I think this last contract has seen the end of my cruise ship days. On to bigger and better things!

What you can do to help!

To make a living as a freelance artist is incredibly difficult, especially coming out of a pandemic where half the bars and venues sadly didn’t survive. So, if you are receiving this email, and have made it here to the bottom, you are my biggest fans and I’m so grateful for you. If you want to help me succeed in this industry (and play and release more music), you can help in so many ways…

  • LESSONS - If you, or someone you know, wants to learn how to play clarinet, sax, flute, jazz, music of any kind, please let me know. I offer private lessons via Skype/Zoom anywhere in the world and, although I have a going rate, I am happy to work with any budget. Just email me.

  • STREAM - Play my music wherever you want. Your next cocktail party, your next road trip, add it to a playlist. I’m on all the streaming platforms. You can find many of them here: https://fanlink.to/AdamPriceGroup

  • SHARE - If you love my music, share it on social media, put it in your stories, tell your friends about it.

  • FOLLOW - Speaking of social media, follow me on all the places (links at the bottom). It is superficial I know, but people care about numbers.

  • MAILING LIST - This is where I get the most personal. If you know someone who is a fan, or should be, have them sign up for the mailing list. Just send them to my website: http://www.adampricemusic.com/

  • PODCASTS / RADIO / BLOG / MAGAZINE - If you, or someone you know, works for a media outlet like those listed above, and is looking for content, I’d be more than happy to send music, show up for an interview, etc. Email me.

  • RECORDING - If you, or someone you know, is a recording artist and needs a clarinet, sax, flute, or any number of ethnic woodwinds on their next release, please let know. Nothing makes me happier than playing on other musicians projects. I can even do it remotely. So if you happen to live in Switzerland, I’d still love to help. Email me.

  • CLINICIAN - If you, or someone you know, is a music teacher at a school/college and wants a clinician to help coach their jazz band, or help coach woodwinds, or give talks about the industry, let me know. I love supporting and encouraging the next generation of musicians. Email me.

  • INVITE US - If you want us to book a gig in your town, let me know! If I know people will show up, I’ll play just about anywhere. I even played a treehouse once. Email me.

  • EMAIL ME - And finally, if you think of something else, or if you just want to say hi, I would absolutely love to hear from you! Email me.

It has been a hard two years for everyone. Hopefully there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and hopefully I’ll be able to see you at a gig soon. I am so deeply grateful for your support. Wishing you peace, hope, and love.

Sending good vibes,

~ adam price
