Safety Series: Social Media and Online Safety

During this February 2022 safety session, attendees learned about strategies to improve awareness of what their students post or share online, how to help their students understand social responsibility and digital citizenship and ways to prevent online threats and cyberbullying.

Panelists included leaders from SKPS, Liberty House and local law enforcement agencies.

The next safety session will focus on building a caring school community and will be held virtually on March 30 at 6 p.m. We encourage all members of our SKPS community to attend.

Career and Technical Education expanded by the 2018 bond
Career and Technical Education has proven to be an ongoing support of student success and thanks to the 2018 bond, CTE programs are expanding across the district! The bond promised 13 new or expanded CTE spaces in the district’s high schools but has actually delivered much more.

Partnership spotlight
Boys and Girls Club

This school year, SKPS is proud to partner with the Boys and Girls Club of Salem for increased access to after-school programming supported through Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funding. The Boys and Girls Club provides after-school programming to more than 500 students from 46 schools. The expanded ESSER-funded partnership has allowed programming to be offered to more students at reduced fees to reduce barriers for families.

During the critical after-school hours, the Boys & Girls Club supports youth through academic and social-emotional programs and curriculum that have been developed nationally and are facilitated by trained staff.

Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief
Each community-based organization program is funded through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSR). You can learn more about ESSR III funding on the State of Oregon website.
