Helpers are needed in all areas, such as catering and car parking, etc.

Whatever your skill or interest, if you'd like to be involved in our premier community event, please email walkabout@fladburyvillage.co.uk.
Thank you.

Downsizing & Moving
Jane Bugg writes:
On the front lawn
Thanks to everyone who has helped me get closer to my house move. The big hurdle is my clutter. To help towards downsizing this, some of my clutter will be on my front lawn at 6 Woodward Parks from Thursday 24th (today!) to Sunday 27th March, including letter tray tiers, wire letter trays, an assortment of small vases and planters, lampshades, a shower curtain, bean bag covers, a few jam jars, leaflet display stands, etc, etc – all for take-away!
Wanted
And I am looking for:
- a television table/stand
- a small shed
- white inside doors
- someone to mow my lawns (front & back) on a regular basis.
If you can offer any of these, at a price, please do contact me – t: 860531 or e: pjbugg@btinternet.com.

Fladbury Cricket Club 🏏
Appeal for Players
Peter Sudlow writes:
Visiting teams often comment about how attractive the cricket ground is at Fladbury. Although the playing field and its facilities are owned by the Parish Council it is the responsibility of the cricket club to maintain the playing area throughout the year so that both football and cricket can be played on decent surfaces during their respective seasons.
The pavilion provides spacious dressing rooms and showers for both home and away teams together with a smaller changing/shower room for match officials – referees and umpires when required. The central room in the pavilion can comfortably accommodate tables and chairs for cricket teas and is also used for various other meetings, clubs, etc throughout the year. Attached to the pavilion is a garage which houses the machinery and equipment used for the maintenance of the playing field.
The cricket club has acquired over the years a single net facility, new sightscreens and only last year a set of mobile covers which are now a feature of the ground during the summer months. It might, therefore, be assumed that the club now owns pretty well everything it could need. This is true but with one very important exception – cricketers.
It appears that in the last 15-20 years, especially since cricket has no longer been shown live on free-to-view TV, a large part of the younger generation has been deprived of regular viewing and as a consequence there is less interest now in what still is our national summer sport. Local clubs such as Fladbury, who currently do not operate a junior system, are struggling to recruit players into the senior ranks. Many such clubs have folded in recent years.
Fladbury CC are currently looking into the potential to start junior cricket again possibly in a year or two. It will not be easy. Coaching qualifications will be required by some senior players and recruiting youngsters may be difficult initially as many will already be under the wing of other nearby clubs such as Pershore or Elmley Castle. However the present committee see this as the best way to guarantee a future for the club.
All this is of course a prelude to what has become an annual appeal for players to come forward from our local communities. Fladbury Cricket Club is under threat – not financially nor from lack of volunteering helpers, but simply from lack of players.
Net practice is due to start at the playing field in April and this will be combined with fielding, throwing and catching disciplines in the outfield. Anyone who is interested would be most welcome irrespective of age ability or experience. Just come along on the evening. As soon as days and times have been fixed you will be informed via this newsletter.

Fladbury Parish Council 🏡🏘
Annual Parish Meeting
The Annual Parish Meeting will be taking place on Monday 11th April at 7pm in the Village Hall. This is an important opportunity for everyone living in Fladbury to raise questions and issues with the Parish Council.
An agenda highlighting the important topics/issues affecting Fladbury will be published nearer the date, but please note that this meeting may be subject to change, depending on Covid rates.
Car Parking in the Village
The Parish Council has been been contacted on a number of occasions by parishioners about cars and trucks being parked on pavements and grass verges in the village.
There are particular concerns about vehicles being parked on the grass verges on Mill Bank and on Station Road (north of the railway bridge, opposite Fladbury Villas and Brooklands). These vehicles are causing damage to the verges that will need to be repaired at a cost to all villagers.
Cars are also being parked on pavements in Farm Street. This is causing difficulty for parents, some with pushchairs, when going to & from school, and for residents using wheelchairs.
It would be appreciated if alternative parking locations could be found.
Community Speed Watch
The Parish Council urgently needs volunteers to join its Community Speed Watch scheme. This should only require a maximum of two hours per month. This initiative will contribute greatly towards creating a safer environment for our younger people and help save lives.
