Busy weekend of action, as Harrier League XC concludes
Harrier League XC
Alnwick was the stunning setting for the conclusion of the Harrier League XC season on Saturday, with 3 Blyth juniors lacing up their spikes to represent their club. Niamh Adams has had a wonderful XC season, and finished in style as she was 7th fastest in the U13 race, achieving her target along the way.

George Bryce produced a superb performance and finished well up the field in 32nd place, demonstrating genuine improvement over the winter.  Jamie Floyd was making his XC debut for the club in the U11 race and was excellent, finishing in a highly creditable 27th place.

Parkrun
Daniel and William Hall once again produced solid performances at the Blyth Links Parkrun (5k), whilst on Sunday three of our younger athletes Liliana, Megan and Mairi all set the bar high with  high placings and PB's.

Meanwhile over in Manchester, Adam Swalwell smashed his 200m as he equalled the outright indoor club record over the distance with 23.48s

MASSIVE PLEA FOR HELP FROM OUR PARENTS & FAMILY MEMBERS
Athletics can only run thanks to the support of volunteers. One thing we are desperately short of is FIELD OFFICIALS. These are volunteers who can help run field events at T&F comps, in particular the NEYDL. As a participating club, we are required by the rules to provided qualified officials at NEYDL events, something we have struggled to do last year. This year, if we are unable to fulfill our obligation to provide officials, we will not only lose points, but also we will be limited in the numbers of athletes we can enter into field events. This is something that we cannot allow to happen.

If you wish to consider starting on the officiating  journey, then please know that you will have the full support of the club and all fees will be paid in full by the club. Officials receive expenses, and have opportunities to progress if the ambition is there. Officials from Blyth have recently been in action at World-Class Diamond League events, and will testify that it is the most rewarding experience.
