Career Development / Hiring Events & Opportunities:

• Central VA Small Business Development Center is hosting two workshops for aspiring entrepreneurs:  Marketing Monday (today @ noon!): Success through eCommerce and Selling to the Commonwealth: SWaM on Tuesday, March 8 at 10am.
• UVA is hosting a virtual information session for transfer students on Tuesday, March 8, noon.  
• Virginia Career Works (VCW) hosts a weekly virtual job search prep workshop on Tuesdays, at 2pm. This week's topic on March 8 is Workplace Skills - Why an Employer Should Hire You. Registration required.  Their Thursday, March 10, 1pm, Employer of the Week, is UVA Talent Acquisition / Temps.  Registration required.  This is one of the easiest ways to get your foot in the door!  They have openings across the University including both part-time and full-time IT Specialist paying $22/hour, Administrative Assistants paying $20+/hour, Access Associates paying $15+/hour and more!  
• Bon Secours Hospitals (in Richmond) invites upcoming and recent RN graduates to their RN Real Talk: Virtual Nurse Panel on Tuesday, March 8, 12pm.  Registration required.
• Attention computing students/alumni:  UVA SCPS is hosting a "Why Cloud Computing" Careers / Training webinar on Thursday, March 10, 12pm. Expert panelists from Amazon, Microsoft and and IBM are participating. Registration required.
• Attention RN students/alumni who want to represent themselves well in the hiring process: Sentara is hosting a virtual Workshop on Cover Letters, Resumes and Interview Preparation on Thursday, March 10, 5-6:30pm.  Registration required.
• Attention those interested in working in Richmond: attend the RVA Career Expo on Friday, March 11, 9am-2pm at the Cultural Arts Center. 100+ employers from multiple industries are hiring for jobs and internships!  Open to all (not just hokies)!  Registration requested.
• Attention aspiring entrepreneurs who live in Albemarle or Charlottesville: Charlottesville City's Minority Business / GO (growing opportunities) Start-Up Program is accepting applications. Classes will be held in person Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 7pm starting April 12. The deadline for applications is Sunday, March 13th at 11:59pm.
• Attention technology students/alumni who want to get paid to travel the world - mark your calendar for Monday, March 14 at 2 pm to learn more about global information technology opportunities with the State Department.  Registration required.

• Octapharma is looking for part-time phlebotomists in Charlottesville
• Charlottesville City is hiring a full-time Deputy Sheriff, paying $42,286.40-$49,004.80. Apply by 3/18.
• The University of Richmond's "The Cellar" has a full-time Hospitality Management position that pays $37,944-$50,275 annually with a possible $1000 sign-on bonus.
• The Science Museum in Richmond has many summer opportunities that pay $12/hour: Summer Camp Counselors, Gallery Educators, Guest Services Associates, Retail Generalists, and some Internships (marketing, STEM research, maker space, museum exhibition, life science, planet shark and DEI). This would be a great way to add to your resume if you have housing in that area or don't mind the drive. Apply by March 20.
• Prince William Co. seeks Police Officers paying $52,749.  Apply by 6/30. They also pay Interns $14/hour.  Apply by 3/15.

• OakHeart Financial Group seeks both a full-time Office Assistant ($17-21/hour) and a full-time Client Relationship Manager ($21-25/hour). Check them both out on CCN - a job listing resource open to all to use!
• UVA Temps has a number of part-time and full-time administrative positions across the University.  Talk with them at Thursday's VCW Employer of the Week virtual recruiting at 1pm.
• Charlottesville City is hiring a full-time Tax Specialist position that pays $31,396.00 - $37,731.20 annually with benefits. Apply by 3/11. They also seek a Police Records Specialist paying $39,208. 
• Sigora Solar has a full-time REMOTE Accounts Payable Clerk position that pays $39-42,000. 
• Attention aspiring business leaders of tomorrow! Community Investment Collaborative (CIC) and Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) are looking to hire a full-time AmeriCorps member to serve as CIC's Financial Management Program Coordinator for one year. The position pays a total stipend of $20,000 with a $6345 education award to pay off student loans or return to school. This is a great opportunity for PVCC's business management or administration students who can do a full-time job on top of their studies.
• Tandem School is hiring a Staff Accountant and HR Coordinator, and school administration positions that require a bachelor's (or beyond) degree on their website.
• Mas Labor seeks a Program Coordinator to work in Charlottesville or Lovingston, paying $45-55,000.
• Attention local photographers who love the Rivanna River and/or the wildlife / landscapes related to it:  Chroma Projects and the Rivanna Conservation Alliance has a contest for you!  There is a limit of two submissions for their May 1st joint arts celebration called Flo(w)ralia at the Lewis & Clark Exploratory Center.

• The Virginia Space Grant Consortium / CSIIP program is a great way to get paid $11+/hour for a part-time or full-time computing (including cyber!) / technical internship; they have placements across the state and some remote possibilities.  Talk with them at PVCC's Annual Job Fair on March 30, 10am-2pm!
• Amplified Electronic Design seeks a Low Voltage Electronics Technician
• Diversey is hiring a full-time Field Service Technician with benefits.
• Toshiba is hiring an Associate Field Service Technician in the Charlottesville area.

• Greystone & Co. Inc. it seeking Level 1 IT Helpdesk help to work remotely or in Warrenton.  They also seek an IT Procurement / Fulfillment Specialist to work in Warrenton.
• Attention cybersecurity students who want to work in the DC area this summer:  the Dept. of Homeland Security has an internship program that would place you in a number of different government agencies. Apply by 3/14. There is a $1500/week stipend plus possible $2000/month housing allowance.
• BAE Systems has a number of openings including 2nd shift CCA, Semiconductor ProductionTest, and Equipment Support Technicians to work in Manassas.
• ThermoFisher Scientific seeks a QC Technician to work the 3-11:30pm shift in Middletown, VA.

• Virginia Polo is hiring part-time morning barn help paying $15/hour! Beautiful facility to work at with being 10 minutes away from PVCC. Horse experience is a must.
• Community Housing Partners has four openings in Charlottesville (and other jobs around the state): Resident Services Coordinator, Maintenance Technician, Energy Solutions Program Manager, and Auditor / Quality Control Inspector.
• Yay Lunch is hiring part-time lunch Delivery Drivers paying $17.50/hour + mileage (you must have your own car). Must be available M-F, 9:30am-12:30pm.  
• Blu Point Seafood (in Staunton) seeks a Line Cook paying $14-16/hour. In the position description, it looks like it could be part-time or an internship.
• Restoration Crozet and Old Trail Swim Club have been great to post several positions on CCN. This Line Cook position pays $15-19/hour. They also posted for part-time Lifeguards ($11-15/hour), PT or FT Golf Snack & Cart Attendant ($9.50/hour + tips), PT Golf Grounds Crew ($12-15/hour), and PT Servers.
