Jon Mac Gillivray is back in KZN and more importantly will be back in the Dargle this coming Saturday!

If you have not been on one of his Mushroom forays yet, this is the perfect opportunity to come and enjoy being outdoors and also listen to & learn about the fascinating world of Fungi, mushroom identification features, edibility, and Fungi's role in our ecosystems. Jon has over 20yrs of guiding experience and is a qualified field guide with vast experience in translating the wilds. He is also an educator, business owner, and author in the field of Mycology.

He is currently the president of the Mycological Society of Southern Africa (MSOSA) and will be able to add you to the provincial mushroom identification group run by MSOSA in your area; an incredible learning resource.

Old Furth Estate shall be hosting Jon and the Dargle Conservancy this time, and is located on the slope of the stunning iNhlosane Mountain. The ticketing link shall be online on Tuesday, 08 March. Proceeds to go towards the work that the Dargle Conservancy does in the area to protect and preserve our biodiversity.

The Dargle Conservancy has invited mushroom expert, Jon Mac Gillivray to come out to the Dargle to do another of his excellent mushroom forays! Safely learn more about the fascinating world of mushrooms and fungi. A highly recommended event not to be missed! Bring the kids and your camera with for some excellent photo opportunities. This is his 3rd outing to us and we look forward to another successful event!

Briza Publications author, Clive Bromilow, shall come and speak at Tanglewood Hotel. Clive holds a degree in applied biology with a major in ecology. He has been involved in the agricultural chemical industry for over 30 years and this has lead to a life-long interest in plants and weeds.

Water Walk at Wana Farm

Jim Taylor shall lead us along the uMngeni river and give some insight into how river ecosystems function and we shall also be testing the water.

Kilgobbin Forest & Grassland Hike and Picnic led by Spekboom Tours
Sunday, 22 May 2022
Kilgobbin Forest/Grassland Hike & Picnic led by Spekboom Tours with the proceeds going to support the work of the Dargle Conservancy. 12/13km with a few steep, off camber and possibly wet muddy sections. The trail may start at Crab Apple progressing 4km through the forest up onto the grassland and back through the Lemonwood forest. Lunch at the Crab-apple picnic site. Hikers should have moderate fitness and can do about 3km/hour. Each hiker will carry their own water with a day pack, sunscreen, jacket and space for a small packed trail treat - crunchy, juice and a piece of fruit. Once arriving at the end destination- Crab Apple picnic site - a simple vegetarian meal (ie vege wraps) will be served. Max 20 hikers.
