Family Support Specialists for Cabell County and Lincoln County
Full Time or Part Time Available      
The TEAM for West Virginia Children has job openings with Mountain State Healthy Families in Cabell County and Lincoln County. Mountain State Healthy Families is a voluntary In-Home Family Education program for families who are expecting or have just had a baby. Home visitors work with families in their home to provide child development and parenting information, link families to resources, and promote positive parent-child interaction.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Contact families who have been referred to the program.
  • Visit with families in their homes (or virtually as needed) to determine individual strengths and needs.
  • Develop a trusting relationship with the families by making regular visits.
  • Provide support and assist in strengthening the parent-child relationship.
  • Assist parents in improving their parenting skills and in setting goals.
  • Help the family access health care and support from other needed social service agencies.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with community resources.
  • Complete required documentation and maintain files.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in working with or providing services to children and families
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Early Childhood, or related field or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood or Child Development preferred but not required
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills
  • Excellent ability to build rapport quickly with families
  • Ability to build professional community relationships
  • Knowledge of infant and child development
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills
  • Ability to use personal transportation for home visits
 
HOURS:
Full-time (40 hours/week) SALARY RANGE:  $23,000 to $26,000 + potential for incentives + great benefits
Part-time (25 hours/week) SALARY RANGE:  $11.00 to $12.50 per hour + potential for incentives
