Russia Was Baited Into War but That Does Not Absolve Its Criminal Aggression
- Chris Hedges, MintPress.com
February 28, 2022
Preemptive war, whether in Iraq or Ukraine, is a war crime. It does not matter if the war is launched on the basis of lies and fabrications, as was the case in Iraq, or because of the breaking of a series of agreements with Russia, including the promise by Washington not to extend NATO beyond the borders of a unified Germany, not to deploy thousands of NATO troops in Eastern Europe, not to meddle in the internal affairs of nations on Russia’s border and the refusal to implement the Minsk II peace agreement. What health experts Say About the 'Natural Experiment' of Ditching Mask Mandates in WA
- Seattle Times
March 4, 2022
“I think the challenge is that there are still a lot of people out there in the community — including those with underlying medical conditions, people with compromised immune systems, people who are unvaccinated and children — who may be at higher risk of contracting COVID and developing subsequent infections, and so my biggest concern with this new phase is the feeling that we may be leaving behind people.” Read here.
12 Thoughts on Ukraine
- Caitlin Johnstone
February 27, 2022
“Russian President Vladimir Putin has launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the goal of which he claims is not to occupy the country but to “demilitarize” and “de-Nazify” it. We’ve no reason to put blind faith in any of those claims. Only time will tell. As of this writing dozens have reportedly been killed. All war is horrific. We can only hope that this one winds up being the least horrific a war can be.” Read here.

- Ramzy Baroud, PalestineChronicle.com
March 7, 2022
The lack of effective measures taken by the Court until now reinforces the victims’ view that they have been suffering from a prolonged denial of justice. Additionally, the long-standing impunity which has been granted to Israel encourages the perpetrators to commit new crimes. Since the beginning of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, we have witnessed the return of international law to the global arena. What is happening now shows that international law may be, indeed, an effective tool, if implemented correctly. Read here.
A Tacoma Gas Facility Versus Climate Change, Sovereignty and Human Rights
- Rico Moore, High Country News
February 25, 2022
A Washington methane gas project is compounding a crisis of tribal consultation, pension funds and national immigration practices. In the Tideflats of Tacoma, Washington, beyond the masts of sailboats anchored in the Puyallup Tribe’s marina, pipelines emerge from the earth and snake their way inland. Their destination — an 8 million-gallon liquefied methane gas tank — was once considered by politicians to be the logical answer to the climate crisis. Now, it’s the center of a local controversy with international implications. Read here.
