Lenten Soup Suppers
Wednesdays at 6:00pm
Gather with us for our traditional soup suppers before the Midweek Lenten Service. Bring your favorite bowl or giant mug to sample the delicious soups and to share in fellowship. Bowls are available if you don't bring your own.
Soups suppers are sponsored by different groups at Mt. Carmel. Chicken Noodle soup and grilled cheese are available for the kids. Childcare is provided.
Midweek Lenten Services
Wednesdays at 7:00pm
During the weeks of Lent we will gather in person (and on Zoom) for a worship that features songs from a Lenten Vespers Service Hidden in Christ, by Richard Bruxvoort Colligan (whose songs are included in the new Lutheran hymnal All Creation Sings). Our theme for the Lenten series is The Lord's Prayer.
Click the link below to register your child(ren) for our 2022 Vacation Bible School. We will have stories, music, and activities for children ages 3 years (and potty trained) to entering 5th grade. 6th grade and up can volunteer to be a helper. Adult volunteers are also welcome.
Cost for the week is $50 per child. Camperships are available. Please contact Deanna Schultze at 805-305-8227 for more information.
Sundays during Lent - We will review Luther’s Small catechism. The series will present the articles of faith, Apostles Creed, Ten Commandments, Lord’s Prayer, Baptism and Communion in discussion. We invite you to join in either in person or on zoom and participate—since this is a discussion series, there won’t be much of a discussion if you don’t add your voice.
This Sunday, March 27: This week we will continue with the final five commandments that we began last week.
Join the discussion, share your viewpoints, gain some new insights.

How to Support the People and Churches of Ukraine:
Lutheran World Federation
The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) has launched a call for donations to support the churches and people of Ukraine, who are fleeing their homes and seeking shelter, basic necessities such as food and water, following Russia’s military invasion of the country.
LWF General Secretary Rev. Anne Burghardt said this “support is vital for people desperately seeking shelter from the gunfire and bombing. Every donation counts.”
If you prefer to donate to the matching funds challenge by check, make your check out to the SLO County Food Bank. Write Mt. Carmel Matching Funds Drive on the memo line so that your donation will be properly credited. Mail to:
Food Bank Coalition of SLO County
1180 Kendall Road
San Luis Obispo, CA 93401
Please do not route your food bank donations through Mount Carmel. Doing so will delay your donation and make tracking the matching funds challenge donations difficult for the food bank.
Thank you to Mount Carmel for your always generous spirit!
ELCA & SYNOD NEWS
SWCA SYNOD WOMEN
Join the Southwest Cal Synod Women of the ELCA for our annual Winter Gathering on Zoom Saturday, March 26 from 8:45 to 12:00. Our theme is "Called to Deal with Difficult Issues". "Now may the God of peace . . .that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing God's will and may God work in us what is pleasing to God, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever." Hebrews 13:20-21(NIV)
Rev. Dr. Alexia Salvatierra will walk us through a process that can help us navigate our conversations and decisions as we confront issues and people in our daily lives. Our morning will consist of devotions by Pastor Marta Salazar, music, breaks with Jane Krueger and small group conversations. Our offering will be divided between Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS) and Churchwide Women of the ELCA.
Register for this event with Julie Jensen atjuliejnsn1@roadrunner.com.
Give Julie your name, address, phone number and email plus your church and city. Julie will send you the Zoom link prior to the event.
