Welcome Our Newest HHS Board Member!

Hello!  My name is Dawn Price, and I am excited to be a new board member for the Habersham Humane Society!  My husband & I, with our Covid rescue dog Sydney, relocated to Clarkesville, GA in April of 2021.

I am passionate about family, football, and the furry friends.  I currently work in the interpretive center at Tallulah Gorge State Park, sit on the board for the Clarkesville Friends of the Library and enjoy volunteering at the Habersham Animal Shelter with doggie playgroups.

My husband and I could not be more thrilled to be a part of the community.  This opportunity is perfect for me, and I look forward to working closely with Jackie Hamby on the coordination of Foster and Transport efforts.  A tremendous thank you!

HAPPY TAILS FROM OUR RECENT FOSTERS!

As we always tell folks, fostering doesn't mean you'll never see your furry friend again!  We get updates from our adoptive families letting us know about their adventures in their new homes.  Receiving this happy news ALWAYS makes us smile!  Here are some of the stories we have received in the past month.
Happy update!
Faith is from a litter of puppies that transported a couple of weeks ago.
"We adopted Faith last Thursday and we are absolutely in LOVE with her!! Her name is Luna Faith.  We live in Kennebunk,, Maine and love to go to the beach and hike in the woods. She will be very active and well loved. Thank you for raising such an amazing Pup!"
Special thanks to Sue Adams and Yolanda Sanchez for fostering this litter beautiful litter of puppies.
"Hello from Gator and his forever family! He is doing amazing! He is so smart and such a fast learner. I own a 9 acre farm/apple orchard. He knows sit, stay, kisses, leave it, easy, come, (working on lay down and bring it) and he rings the bells on the door when he wants to go out! We love him so much!  Thank you for sending him our way!! 💙"
And HHS thanks Sue Adams for fostering Gator.
"My partner and I adopted Valentine about a month ago from the Animal Welfare Society in Maine. My sister is a vet there and she shared Valentine’s story of how she was found on the steps of the Presbyterian Church in Cornelia, GA.
I wanted you to know that she is thriving in her new home and loves playing with my older cat Billie. They chase each other throughout the day and both love to snuggle in the bed at night. She has been such a wonderful addition to the family and we are truly obsessed with her."
Thank you to Cat Wiles for saving and fostering sweet little Valentine.
"I wanted to let you know we adopted Sassy. We changed her name to Oji -- pronounced Ohdzee.
She was an unexpected gift. We lost our boy in October and were looking for a new fur baby but taking our time to make sure we found the right fit. We just happened (unplanned) to take a look in the Bangor Humane Society ... and there were all the puppies. We ended up deciding on this beautiful girl. And when we went to fill out the paper work we were told that there was a man who was paying for all the adoptions that day. It was a lovely surprise. It’s been a bit over a week and, after gaining 3 pounds (!) she is fitting in perfectly in her new forever home. She will become my adventure buddy. I trail run and hike daily and this soon will become her new norm. She is so smart and knows her name and comes and sits."
Thank you so much to the foster mom Sue Adams.
