For the past two years Friends Quaker Meeting House in Ames has been generously hosting Zen Fields for short retreats.  The meeting house is now in need of a new roof.  Please consider making an offering either directly to Quaker Meeting House at the following address:

Ames Friends Meeting
121 S. Maple Avenue
Ames, IA 50010

Make a check out to "Ames Friends Meeting."  This is, of course, tax deductible.

The other option is to make a donation to Ames Friends Meeting through Zen Fields, in which case you are welcome to either write a check and ear-mark it "For Ames Friends Roof," or to make a donation through the following link being sure to include a note that it is for the Meeting House roof.

Full Moon Ceremony and Meditation
April 16th, 1:30 - 4:30
Quaker Meeting
Every full moon the 16 Bodhisattva precepts are recited in Zen Temples across the world.  This retreat consists of a recitation of the precepts as a way to remind ourselves to live mindfully in our day-to-day lives.  You do not need to formally receive the precepts in order to be a part of this ceremony.  It's for everyone.

Interested in studying or formally receiving the Buddhist precepts?

A group is forming with the intention to deepen our understanding of the five mindfulness trainings.  The group will meet once a week at a to be decided time.  We will be studying For a Future to be Possible by Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh.  There will also be opportunities to study the Sutra on Mindful Breathing.
Please email Daishin if you are interested in joining.  This group is open to anyone - whether they have received the precepts or not.  By studying the precepts you will have the opportunity - if you wish - to formally receive the precepts, but committing to formally receiving the precepts is not a prerequisite for joining the group.

Overnight at Newton Retreat Center
