Paying a living wage constitutes a critical investment in the long-term prosperity of the economy by fostering a dedicated, skilled, and healthy workforce. The Living Wage Employer Program recognizes and celebrates employers that pay their direct and indirect employees a living wage. Minister Schulz is welcoming new child and youth advocate, Terri Pelton

---------------------------------------------

“I’m happy to announce that on April 5, Terri Pelton will be sworn in as Alberta’s child and youth advocate.

“The child and youth advocate is an independent officer who works with government on our shared goal of protecting children and helping families thrive. I’m confident Ms. Pelton’s extensive social work experience and leadership skills will help the voices of children be heard and ensure the safety and well-being of our youngest citizens.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Del Graff, Alberta’s current advocate, for 11 years of dedicated service in the role. Mr. Graff has worked tirelessly to support Alberta’s children and I am so grateful for his dedication and collaboration.

“Please join me in congratulating Ms. Pelton on her appointment to this vital role. Children’s Services looks forward to working with her to advance reconciliation and improve services for Alberta’s children, youth and families.”
