Keep Sussex Safe: Help the NHS help you

The NHS across the country is currently experiencing significant demand and is asking people to consider how and when they access health and care services.

Whilst, as a country, we have moved to the next phase of learning to live with COVID this does not mean COVID has gone away. We all still need to be careful to limit the spread of infection.

Staff across the whole of the NHS are working hard to keep people safe.

People are being urged to also play their part in helping the NHS provide the best possible services during this extremely busy time.

What should you do?

The NHS is asking people to Help Us Help You and take the following actions:
  • Use the right services for your needs at the right time – see guidance here
  • Save emergency services for saving lives
  • Be patient with our staff, they are trying to keep people safe
  • Wear a mask in hospital and healthcare settings
  • If you can, have a lateral flow test before attending a healthcare setting
  • Get your vaccines to protect yourself against COVID and flu
For more information on how we can all keep Sussex safe click here.

It is important that during this time people do not delay in coming forward with health concerns so people should continue to use services in the most appropriate way.

For an immediate, life threatening medical emergency call 999.

For non-emergency medical advice contact your GP, or NHS 111 if you are unable to access a GP service. You may be able to find the medical advice you need online.
