The Academy Awards are Sunday night but you can still see all 15 short Oscar nominees. There are shows Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Here’s our schedule. A reminder: this year’s Animation program is not for kids (at least not for pre-teens) but it is an exceptional group of films.

This is also your last chance to see Servants, which is streaming as we speak in our virtual theater for one more week. You can read more about Servants below.

Writing With Fire is also up for an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. It tells the inspiring story of a brave and defiant group of female journalists. Writing With Fire opens next Friday and is co-sponsored by the IU Dhar India Studies Program and the IU Media School.

We are stubbornly sticking with our pandemic protocols and so please continue to wear a mask and bring your vaccination cards. Thank you!

You can watch Servants right here, right now, in our virtual theater

Czechoslovakia, 1980…the totalitarian Communist regime demands allegiance from all its subjects, including the clergy. Mihal and Juraj are two conflicted novitiates whose seminary is under increasing pressure by the Party to mold its students into satisfactory citizens. Their tutors probe their allegiance to the Party, frowning upon the slightest hint of individual thinking, but subversion is bubbling beneath the façade of compliance. Directed by Ivan Ostrochovský, Servants is at once a provocative morality tale and a noir-tinted political thriller.

2022 Slovakia 81 minutes Slovak w/English subtitles

Captivating! SERVANTS pairs black-and-white imagery, reminiscent of films by Robert Bresson, with an austere kind of choreography.. CRITIC’S PICK
