A Note from Rebecca
<<First Name>> if you’re like me, then you are reeling a little from events around the world. Just when we thought Covid might give us a reprieve and allow some normalcy…here comes war in Ukraine! My heart is breaking as I’m sure yours may be. I feel so powerless.
I also feel guilty. I have had to stop watching news coverage. The visuals are so disturbing that they haunt me. How do you stop thinking about the sight of fellow human beings being terrorized and slaughtered? And for what?
I can’t look away without feeling guilty and I can’t watch without feeling total horror, depression and sadness.
How are the same scenarios that plagued my mother’s childhood playing out again in this century? It’s horrifying and somehow it has to stop!
So what to do?
For me, as usual, I escape into my psychic happy place through painting. I use it as a tonic for my soul and an offering. I paint and I pray. I pray that if the whole world joins me in desiring peace that together we can impact the course of events.
My hope is also that dedicating funds from my painting sales might make some small sort of impact. To that end, I’ve been painting up a bevy of sunflowers!
Perhaps it could help a few Ukrainian people. Even if doesn’t change the reality they are facing, perhaps they will feel loved. I choose to believe that anything done with love can make a difference.
I’m researching charities with good reputations and low overhead fees who might be doing good work on the ground in Ukraine. Here is a site you can use for your similar research https://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm
God bless the poor people caught in the crossfire of nations and governments everywhere, but especially in Ukraine.
If you’d like to share what’s on your heart, maybe it’s about the war or maybe it’s about art…either way I’d love to hear from you!
with love and light,
