Spring 2022 Bulletin 8

Recertification and Reregistration Training Requirements

We know getting licensed in structural pest control can be challenging! Certified Operators must draw on years of experience in pest control to pass a rigorous certification exam, and Registered Employees must complete weeks of classroom and on-the-job training in preparation for the registration exam. So, we want to do everything we can to keep you informed on how you can maintain your license without having to retake any registration or certification exams.

Though there is still more than a year before renewal fees will be due on June 30, 2023, your training deadline may be approaching quicker than you realize.

Reregistration:
Registered Employees must have their continuing education units (CEUs) completed before March 1st of each odd numbered year. This means the next training deadline for Registered Employees is 2/28/2023. The reregistration CEU requirements for each category are listed below:

Household Pest Control               8 hours
Wood Destroying Organisms       8 hours
Fumigation                                   3 hours

Recertification:
Certified Operators have a five-year recertification period to earn their CEUs that begins when they are certified. Their training must be completed at least 90 days prior to their certification expiration date. This means their training deadlines do not align with the license expiration date when licensing fees are due every two years. The recertification CEU requirements for each category are listed below:

Household Pest Control               25 hours
Wood Destroying Organisms       25 hours
Fumigation                                   12 hours

You can check your training deadline and the CEUs you have earned on your Applicator Profile. You can access your applicator profile at the following link https://www.kellysolutions.com/ga/structural/, or by scanning the QR code on the back of your license card with a smartphone camera.

Georgia Clean Day is a program that gives everyone an opportunity to discard old, unusable, or cancelled pesticides to a hazardous waste contractor for disposal. Pesticides in leaking containers or disposed of improperly may cause environmental damage by contaminating water supplies or harming people and wildlife. Some pesticides that have been used in the past are now in need of proper disposal. Participation in the Clean Day Program remains free of charge to pest control operators and commercial applicators.  Pre-registration for this event is required by April 28, 2022. For more information about the event please contact your local extension agent, visit our website.
