Paul at The Palms - Pastor Paul Whitlock

Pastor Paul's Ponderings
Love is patient.

But often we demand things to happen on our schedule.

Love is kind.

But our actions don’t always match our lofty phrases.

Love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude.

But there are times when we are.

Love does not rejoice in wrongdoing but rejoices in truth.

We celebrate the mistakes of our enemies and laugh at their foibles.

Love bears, believes, hopes, and endures.

Our desire is to do the same.

Love can be shown through our actions.

Love is resilient determination.

Love digs deeper and gives more.

Love is made evident in big and small ways so that the world becomes a better place.

The above is based on a litany found in the One Great Hour of Sharing resource packet. That special offering is this Sunday. The OGHS offering is designated to help people throughout the world who have experienced war, violent storms, and economic ruin. It helps girls get educated and women to start small co-op businesses in impoverished areas. It is the church being the church. I give more to this offering than any other special offering. I encourage you to do likewise – give generously!

Shalom, Paul

Justice Is Not for Just Us at The Palms

The Coconut Palm
Three buildings in town were overrun by squirrels—the town hall, the hardware store, and the church.

The town hall brought in some cats. But after they tore up all the files, the mayor got rid of the predators, and soon the squirrels were back.

The hardware store humanely trapped the squirrels and set them free outside town. But three days later, the squirrels climbed back in.

Only the church came up with an effective solution. They baptized the squirrels and made them members. Now they see them only on Christmas and Easter.

A Palm Reader's Look into the Future
I am back in the pulpit this Sunday. Read Luke 15. Ever been or felt lost? This is your Sunday! God is actively searching for all of us.

New member information session will be Wednesday, April 6, at 3:30 p.m. Come for information, laughs, and food. It’s a low-key opportunity for the questions you always wanted to ask. Sign up in the narthex.

Interested in taking piano or voice lessons? Talk with our keyboardist, Jennifer Hoppe. She can help you in her studio at The Palms.

A full worship service is available on Mondays on our website.

Remember to vaccinate, booster, mask up, sanitize, and use social (holy) distancing.

My sabbatical dates are May 16 through August 15, 2022.

Love remains.
