COUNTY COUNCIL DISTRICTS
The new districts are now official.  A map of the new districts is available to download.  Link (pdf).  With the new Districts, RD38 is entirely within Council District 4.  The election in November 2022 will fill District 4 and 5 seats (not all five districts as I stated two weeks ago).  Incumbent Republican Councilman Doug Hudson has announced he will seek reelection to the 4th District seat.  (See Coastal Point article link).
ADDITIONAL LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT CHANGES PENDING
The state House has passed some tweaking of the legislative districts adopted in November.  They would still need Senate approval and Governor Carney’s signature to be adopted.  "This Act makes changes to the Senate and House of Representatives districts so as to minimize the need for new election districts and increase the efficiency of election administration."  Within Sussex, the changes are limited to Senate District (SD) boundaries.  The new RD38 boundaries continue to lie entirely within the propose SD20 boundaries.  (link).
A DIFFERENT TAKE ON DEVELOPMENT
Joe Conaway, a familiar figure in Sussex Democratic circles as well as a recent (still?) chair of the Sussex Economic Development Action Committee (SEDAC) has published an interesting guest column in the Coastal Point (link).  Titled “We need more building, not less” it makes a number of points, including the problems of the unfilled demand for affordable and workforce housing.
RECENT LTE SHOWS MISUNDERSTANDING OF VOTING MACHINE CHANGE
A Recent letter to the Coastal Point is titled “Paper or electronic ballots: Who decides?” (link).  I don’t know if it was an effort by the Republican author to spread disinformation or to harass the Delaware Election Commissioner, but that might be its consequences.  The author showed no knowledge of the Voting Machine Task Force (link) active between the 2016 and 2020 elections to advise on the replacement of the old machines/systems.
ANTI WIND PROJECT EFFORT RENEWED
The Fenwick town council voted to ask federal agencies to establish broader restrictions on the visibility of wind turbines from coastal areas.  See the Maryland Coast Dispatch article by Bethany Hooper “Fenwick Seeks Exclusion Zone For Offshore Wind Projects” (link).
