We are deeply touched by you, our community members, who have and still are reaching out to share your support and shock regarding the theft of our van last week.

One very important piece of information that the recent news coverage did not choose to highlight is that our first response was not fear or anxiety but strength and courage. We assessed the damage, transported the recovered van to Wiscasset Ford, and moved all the art materials into personal vehicles to continue programming without missing a beat.

More significantly is our strong sense of empowerment to keep ArtVan's valuable art therapy service rolling.  If we can prevent one or more youth from making a harmful or destructive choice (like these individuals did) and channel their strengths towards healthy choices, then we are successful.

Touched by the many requests of how you can help, we’d like to share our gratitude for gifts received that directly cover our insurance deductible. Our ongoing Van Reserve Fund supports any emergency repairs and a replacement vehicle when that time approaches. Donations towards this fund are welcome at any time! Visit our website artvanprogram.org/donate/ for info on how to send us a gift.

"I often struggle with perfection in my pieces.
Things have to be just right, or I do not finish them.
In this piece, I let the felt fall where it wanted and created around it.
No questions. No plans. It was oddly freeing."
