SHARING LENT
WITH OUR NEIGHBORS
On Wednesday, March 23, we revive a tradition of sharing worship with our neighbors at First English Lutheran Church. In the past, people from the two communities have gathered on the evening before Thanksgiving. In this new variation, St. Anne parishioners are invited to First English, 402 N. Third Ave., for a Lenten evening of worship and preaching at 6 p.m. March 23. The homily by Pastor Erik Olson will address Psalm 23 - “God gives me a place of honor.” Members of First English will come to St. Anne for Stations of the Cross at 5:15 p.m. Friday, April 1.
CELEBRATING THE ANNUNCIATION MINDFUL OF UKRAINE
Pope Francis has encouraged all Christians to dedicate prayer on Friday to the cause of peace in Ukraine. We will celebrate Mass for the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord and to pray for peace at 5:15 p.m. Friday.
In echoing the Holy Father, Bishop Callahan says, "Let us all pray that the Mother of Humanity and the Incarnation of the Son of God may bring genuine peace and tranquility to all who suffer. May the fragile nature of each human life, created and cherished by Almighty God and protected by His Mother, lead us all to the sense of love God intends."

Here is another opportunity to reflect on Sunday's closing hymn, which complements so well the Lenten theme of repentance, as well as the deep strife in our world.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS FOR UKRAINE
We will not offer Stations of the Cross this week, however, here is a link to an excellent resource for praying the Stations while mindful of the suffering being endured by the people of Ukraine.
RECONCILATION
This sacrament of Love, Mercy and Invitation is offered during Lent at 9 a.m. Saturdays and 5-6 p.m. Wednesdays. During renovation Reconciliation is celebrated in the Parish Library. Here is a link to a guide to the sacrament and examination of conscience.
GIVE US THIS DAYis an excellent monthly prayer resource with daily psalms, scripture, intercessions and reflection. HOW CAN I KEEP FROM SINGING:Might you lend your voice to our worship during The Great Three Days? A Triduum Choir is being formed for just that purpose. Rehearsal is at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays in McKillip Hall. All parishioners who enjoy singing are invited. This choir also will lead the assembly in singing at the dedication Mass of the new altar and renovated church in June.
AND, NOT JUST SINGING: A parish goal — and need — for these weeks of Lent is to invite and encourage more parishioners to assist in the various ministries at Mass. To learn more about these ministries and possibly arrange a time for orientation, send an email to mail@stanneswausau.org.
+ READERS: Adults and confirmed teens who proclaim the word of God at Mass.
+ SERVERS:Adults, teens and children in fourth grade or older who assist the presider and assembly in preparing for and during Mass. This could include a parent and a child. While dormant for nearly two years, it is important that we restore and revive this significant ministry. Parents please encourage your children. Adults of all ages are invited to assist in this role.
+ WELCOME MINISTERS: It’s as simple, but essential, as welcoming people as they arrive for Mass and beginning the collection during Mass.
+ LIVESTREAM MINISTERS: We will continue to offer a livestream of Mass for the benefit of those unable to join us in-person. But, this requires people to coordinate the livestream. Full orientation is offered and it’s not as complicated, or reason for fear, as you might imagine. This is a role that parents and older children could fulfill together.
HANGING BASKETS AND PATIO PLANTERS are being sold to raise funds for the summer Youth Mission Trip. Here's a link for a brochure with complete information and an order form. The order/payment deadline is March 31.
