The presenter for the event will be Distinguished Professor Andre Renzawo (see bio below) who has achieved 336 academic publications and over 14 million dollars in research funding. Distinguished Professor Renzaho (PhD, 2005, Deakin University; MPH, 2000, University of Melbourne) is a mixed methods public health researcher specialising in global migration, health equity, and cultural competence in health care. He is the inaugural Professor of Humanitarian and Development Studies at Western Sydney University and was the Director of Academic Programs from 2015 to 2018. He is ranked in the World’s Top 2% Scientists for the Single Year Impact-2020" and "Career-long impact" category; and ranked 3rd in Australia and 10th in the world as the leading researcher in Global Migration Health.
He became an academic in 2007, joining Deakin University as a Senior Research Fellow. From 2011 to 2014, he held a Professorial position in Migration, Social Disadvantage, and Health within the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine and became the Research and Program Director within the Global Health and Society Unit at Monash University. Prior to academia he held senior positions and leadership roles with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, the United Nations Children's Fund, Concern Worldwide, Care Australia, Médecins Sans Frontières, and World Vision International (1990-2006). Over a relative short career in academia (14 years), he has 336 publications, an h-index of 70, and has attracted $14.13 million in competitive funding and consultancies.
