What a fabulous week it has been with an array of events to celebrate Harmony Week. I have enjoyed being involved in celebrating our multi-cultural community.
Wishing the Natimuk community all the best for its weekend of festivities. Much planning has gone into making this a great event.
Just a reminder that the CAD revitalisation consultation closes soon so don’t miss out on viewing the draft streetscape plan and providing your feedback.
Have a great weekend

Conserving Horsham Theatre's heritage
Council intends to undertake a conservation management plan for the Horsham Theatre, and will next week apply for heritage funding.
To support the application, we want to know about your experiences and memories of times spent at the historic building.
Council’s Mark Hunter was part of a trio of Wimmera tradespeople to be honoured at the 2022 Master Builders Victoria Regional Apprentice of the Year Awards.
A group rendition of “I am Australian” was a highlight when Mayor Robyn Gulline joined Centre for Participation English class participants for a Harmony Day event on Thursday.
Past and present migrant students dressed in cultural attire and shared their national foods as part of a celebration of the Wimmera’s multiculturalism.
In the spirit of the message of Harmony Week, everyone belongs, Horsham welcomed seven new Australian citizens during a ceremony at the Civic Centre on Wednesday night.
The last two years have seen continuous disruption, restrictions on our daily lives, on businesses, workplaces, health, how we welcome new arrivals, or say final goodbyes to family and friends, and how we gather and connect as families, friends, groups and workmates.
Council and the Victorian Seniors Festival Reimagined will host a free Tania Kernaghan Band concert for Seniors at the Horsham Church of Christ on Friday 1 April.
The show will be at the Horsham Church of Christ, 91 River Rd, Horsham from 11am to 12noon and a free morning tea served from 9.30am.
Bookings are not required but all patrons must be fully vaccinated. There will be access to an all abilities bathroom and individual bathroom facilities at the event.
PROJECTS AND WORKS
BIKE PATH SEALING – WEIR PARK TO KENNY ROAD
The bike path on the south side of the river from Weir Park to Kenny Rd has been prepared for sealing, with the sealing works to occur next week (weather dependent).
WOTONGA BASIN WORKS
The wet well for the new irrigation pumps has been installed, with the surrounding bank area backfilled. Removal of the earthen dam that has been protecting the work area will start next week.
SAWYER PARK BARBECUE SHELTERS AND ANGLING CLUB PERGOLA
Concrete work has finished on the barbecue shelters. Installation of the cooktops and timber fittings will occur next week, with the concrete access paths to be installed early in April.
The timber posts and beams for the Angling Club pergola have been installed and the structure is really taking shape. Next week will see the roof installed and the existing veranda posts on the building replaced with new posts and footings.
This work has been funded by the Federal Government’s Community Development Grant, the Victorian State Government’s Regional Infrastructure Fund and Sustainable Infrastructure Fund, and Horsham City Council as part of the City to River Project.
HORSHAM NORADJUHA ROAD WORKS
From next week Regional Roads Victoria (RRV) crews will start works on the Horsham – Noradjuha Road from south of the Wimmera Highway to Natimuk-Hamilton Road.
The work involves widening the road and sealing the shoulders to help motorists stay in control of their vehicle if they veer off the road.
RRV has worked closely with Barengi Gadjin Land Council to ensure the scar trees and overall cultural significance of the road environment is preserved and protected throughout the planning and construction phase.
Crews will be initially working between the 4km and 13 km mark (from the Wimmera Hwy). Some delays will be experienced but the road remains open.
