Wednesday Night Route Changes

Starting this month through fall, Swords Park will take the place of the Time Out Sports route on the 1st Wednesday of the month. The Swords Park route starts at the parking lot with the vault toilet at the intersection of Airport Drive and Swords Park Drive. All other Wednesday run locations will remain unchanged.

In honor of April Fool's Day, the routes in April will start at the usual locations but be run backwards. It will be a workout for your brain, in addition to your legs.

Saturday mornings start at the YMCA at 7:00am. Learn More

Trail Cleanup on Sunday, April 24 @ 1:00pm

The Rimrunners have adopted the multi-use path between 24th & 29th St W along our Canyon Creek route. It is overdue for a cleanup! We will supply gloves, trash bags, litter grabber arms, and other equipment.

Starting location: Near Tao/MVD/Topz Sandwich off of 24th St W. See map.

Afterwards, we will head to Canyon Creek Brewing for a well earned celebratory drink.

Save the dates of future cleanups - June 12 and October 9.
Last year's cleanup made a big difference in beautifying the trail for all runners and walkers. We're excited to continue this community service.

Montana Women's Marathon Updates

News of the Montana Women’s Run by Ekkie Wedul

Pint Night at Last Chance Cider Mill on March 9th was very fun, though not well attended. We gave away a lot of souvenirs to people who spun the big wheel we had borrowed from Pepsi.

The St. Patrick’s Day parade was fun too, as we pulled the “really big shoe” through the streets of downtown Billings. The parade seemed to be well attended.

Now you have a chance to support the Run another time, this time at the Olive Garden. The date is Tuesday, April 26th, from 5-8 PM. Here’s the deal: Adults pay $25, kids $10. Then you order from the menu. Any difference between the price of the meal and the $25 ($10, kids) goes to the Women’s Run. Come on out and enjoy a good meal for a good cause. In case you haven’t heard, we have given over $1.5 million back to the community since 1994.

Of course, the 41st Montana Women’s Run is May 7th, walk or run 2 Miles or 5 Miles in downtown Billings. Register through RunSignUp or click on the link at www.womensrun.org, which takes you to RunSignUp. There is a Virtual option for an extra fee to mail the shirt. The Guaranteed T-shirt-before-Race-Day deadline is April 15. That is also the deadline for Virtual Entries, for Team Up, and for Pat Jaffray Inspiration Award nominations.

Remember the Kids’ Run for kids 10 and under at Daylis Stadium on May 3rd at 6 PM. Free. Either sign the waiver online at RunSignUp or come early to have time to sign the waiver.

President's Notes

by Dave Coppock

It’s really feeling like spring out there; Daylight Savings Time, warmer temps and the annual Rimrunners Shamrock Run!

Speaking of the Shamrock Run, our 41st edition, a huge thanks goes out to race director Sarah Grau, the race committee, and all the volunteers who put on a fun and smooth-running event. Anyone who has organized a race knows there are a lot of moving parts and coordination involved in getting a large group of people from the starting line to the finish and that they leave the event happy and with a time and a t-shirt. Sarah managed to coordinate everything from t-shirts, race entries and permitting, to snacks and beer at the finish. At any point, things can fall through the cracks and affect the whole race. Minor details, like ordering enough safety pins, can really affect how smoothly an event can go. I heard a lot of positive comments on race day and it looked like everyone had a great time on a perfect day under cloudy, cool and mostly calm conditions.

Remember to come out for our Wednesday night and Saturday morning runs. We’ve got a lot more daylight to work with and we can probably ditch the headlamps until next winter!

Shamrock Run

The Shamrock Run was a fun St. Patrick's day celebration on Sunday, March 13. It was great to be back with a live event at Pioneer Park. We had 311 registered participants for the 5K and 36 for the kids run.  People came decked out in green and celebrated in the beer garden afterwards. A big thank you to Bill Harrington, who organized and led the ground crew. Additionally, race director Sarah Grau was indispensable in making the race registration and day of events run smoothly. Last but not least, a giant shout out to our sponsors - Time Out Sports and Briggs Distributing.
