Human After All
|
The wine world is waking up and will soon be tasting wine without a mute button in sight. This month we share info on the upcoming California Wine Fair, Top Drop and the venerable Vancouver International Wine Festival. But, for now, we invite you to pick up Allison Spurrell's recommendation, the Toma Piemontese cheese, and pair it with one of several Piedmont wines chosen by Treve Ring, while watching our latest video exploring Mirafiore. The late 19th century Barolo producer with regal origins lay dormant for 70 years until 2008 when Oscar Farinetti, the founder of Eataly, revitalized this Piedmont treasure, a waking dream for a post-pandemic visit. VIDEO: MIRAFIORE
Mirafiore's story is similar to that of Sleeping Beauty. After a long slumber, it was awoken by a prince, to create a story that ends "happlily ever after" with Cru Barolos. Visit the estate with us, including its many hospitality offerings in Serralunga D'Alba, Piedmont, Italy.

WHAT IS REAL WINE?
|
Marcel Deiss Complantation Nature 2019 |
Alsace, France |
From Marcel Deiss’ biodynamically farmed vineyards, this co-fermented field blend was native fermented in foudre, where it rested for one year on lees, with zero inputs throughout, including sulphur. The striking bottle, label, and name preview the wine inside: a contemplative and intellectual (yet delish) blend. Wild lemon, tangerine, galangal, lime pith and peel, honeysuckle stretch across a long, slender frame. The acidity and granitic grip easily hold the tension taut on this 14% wine, drawing it to a pithy grapefruit pith finish, with a lingering, savoury lick of brown butter. |
