News from the Town of Needham

This is the banner image of Town Hall in the spring

Good morning, Needham!

While some rain is forecast for this upcoming weekend, Needham’s Parks and Forestry team is planning to prepare the Town’s turf fields for the upcoming spring season. Crews will be painting lines on the turf at DeFazio and Memorial Fields. Please keep off these fields this weekend so that they may complete their work undisturbed. Thank you!

Also of note next week, the Needham Fire Department will be participating in training exercises with Keolis, the operator of the MBTA’s Commuter Rail. The training will be held over four days, from Monday, March 28th through Thursday, March 31st. During those days, the public should expect additional train idling during the daytime hours. It is not anticipated that there will be additional idling during the evening hours beyond the Commuter Rail’s normal operations. The training will help ensure that the Fire Department is prepared to respond in the event of an emergency situattion involving commuter rail trains in Needham.

Finally, a reminder that the Lt. Manson H. Carter Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2498 will celebrate Vietnam Veterans Day Tuesday, March 29th at 11 am. A short ceremony will be held to honor Needham's Fallen Vietnam veterans at the Town’s Vietnam Memorial on Cefalo Road. Lunch will served at the Post facility beginning at noon. All Vietnam Veterans and Vietnam-era veterans are invited.
