Happy Spring! Thank you to all of the volunteers who have been out in the monument with us and our partners from Canyons of the Ancients National Monument for volunteer trainings this past month. We really enjoyed seeing you in person! The trainings for Trail Information Specialist program and Wilderness Study Area Monitoring program went great. A fabulous group of our 2022 Cultural Site Stewards had a wonderful field trip going out to a few spectacular sites.

Earth Day Cleanup


In honor of Earth Day 2022 we will gather together with our partners from Canyons of the Ancients National Monument on Friday, April 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for a service project to clean up litter in the monument.

Please Join Us!

WHEN: Friday, April 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

WHERE: Tailgate safety talk and clean-up day information meet at Sand Canyon (east parking lot) at 9:30 a.m. Next, regroup in fewer cars and drive to Rincon area (about 12 miles further west on Road G).

WHAT: Pick up trash in Rincon area and along Road G. Stay as long as you are able. Clean-up will conclude by 1:00 p.m.

WHAT TO BRING: Water, snack and/or lunch, sunscreen, hat, gloves.

Trail Information Specialist Program

We really appreciate the volunteers involved in the Trail Information Specialist (TIS) program. Thank you for participating the training!

Wilderness Study Area Monitoring

We greatly appreciate all of our volunteers who offer us so much time and energy making the Cultural Site Stewardship Program successful. Field trips are a great perk for our volunteers and we are so happy to be able to share these experiences with you. Ride of the Ancients


VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

We are seeking willing and able volunteers to help with this epic event. Volunteers are needed for duties prior to the event and on the day of the event on Saturday, July 9th.
 
Sign up now to volunteer for set-up, check-in, aid stations, course marshal, tear down, and more. Canyons of the Ancient Visitor Center and Museum

 
**The new bookstore located in the Visitor Center is Open!**  
 
The Canyons of the Ancients Visitor Center and Museum hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Visitor Center services including entrance to the Special Exhibit Gallery are free. Entry to the Main Museum Exhibit Gallery is $7 per person and can be paid for at the front desk.

To create a safe space for visitors and staff while in the building the following guidelines are in place:
  • Face masks are optional 
  • Social distance is encouraged with at least 6 feet from others
  • Clean your hands regularly
  • Reschedule your visit if you feel unwell
A "Virtual Ranger Station" is stocked with maps, brochures, and junior ranger booklets and can be found next to the Visitor Center's parking lot 24/7. Please call 970-882-5600 for customer service.
