From the Head of School

Dear Gardner community,

This past Tuesday, I started my day seeing our youngest learners perform a play to the book, Caps for Sale at their Celebration of Learning. At the end of the day, I watched our oldest learners, the Klickitat class, share a video of them performing a play the wrote together to showcase their study of Ancient Greece. It was a perfect example of how our approach builds, one year to the next. It also highlights how important these hands-on and integrated experiences are, and how they are different yet equally valuable for every student on our campus.

We are happy to welcome our families on to campus for Celebrations of Learning last week and this week to connect, cheer on our students, and celebrate their growth. I look forward to seeing you and marveling together at the wonders each child created.

On Wednesday this week, members of the Northwest Association of Independent Schools will be visiting Gardner to learn more about our school, ask questions, and take the final step before moving us into candidate status. It's been a lot of work to prepare for this moment, but we're ready and excited to welcome them to our campus and for them to learn all about what makes us uniquely Gardner.

I hope however you choose to spend your Spring Break that your children return from it rested, connected, and ready to be back for more learning experiences in April and beyond!

Warmly,
Hello, Spring Break!

We wish you all a healthy and restful break!

Testing Recommendation
Before returning, consider testing

While not a requirement, home testing can be a valuable strategy to reduce potential spread on the school campus. Please consider testing your child before they return to school on Tuesday, April 12th, particularly if your family has traveled via public transport or been in larger social groups. Our school has enough tests to share with any of our families who need them! Reach out to Lisa Linderman for more information.

Health Screening Reminder
Report any symptoms

Before returning to school on Tuesday, April 12th, please remember to report any symptoms your child had in the last 72 hours, even if you already have a negative test result, to health@gardnerschool.org so they can be cleared tor return when appropriate. Children who are cleared, but still have symptoms, will be asked to wear masks until symptoms resolve.

2022 Giving Gala Sponsorships
We have some wonderful opportunities to sponsor the 2022 Giving Gala this year, with a range of options for local businesses and individuals who want to increase their support of the Gardner School, and who would like to reach our community of engaged Clark County parents, grandparents, and alumni.

If you own a business, or know someone who does, check out the sponsorship options on our Gardner Gala website.

Staffing Update
Thank you, Teacher Molly!
We have loved getting to know Teacher Molly as she's led our Kindergarten- 6th grade students through exciting, hands-on, messy, and creative projects this year. Molly also has taken care of our K-6 After Care program, and supported students in playing, exploring, and developing important social and emotional skills during that time, too. Her enthusiasm and passion for teaching are obvious to all that work with her!

Molly will be moving this summer, and we wish her the best on her upcoming adventures! It's not too late to sign up for some fun Art based summer camps with Molly, and you can find more information here

Gardner School Covid-19 Dashboard
Keeping all of our students in school depends on our families following the requests below for screening for symptoms.

2. Has your child been in close contact with anyone with confirmed COVID-19 or has a public health or medical professional told your child to self isolate or self-quarantine because of concerns about COVID-19 infection?

3. If any of the answers to these questions are yes, have you emailed health@gardnerschool.org and been cleared to be on campus? If not, please remain off campus until cleared.
