Mar 2022 Welcome to the spring issue of The Dispatch!
March brought good news: Past President of Fire Service Women Ontario and Division Chief Louise Hine-Schmidt (Ottawa Fire Services) was recognized as one of the Women of Impact Trailblazers by Women and Gender Equality Canada! Congratulations to Division Chief Hine-Schmidt on this well-deserved honour! This issue features a new FIREWELL publication on a major problem for firefighters: training and exercise injuries. We also share other scientists' research on physiology, cancer, fatigue, and wildland firefighting. Read to the end for opportunities to get involved in research and a new magazine dedicated the well-being of firefighters. Thank you for reading and supporting our work. Musculoskeletal Health The FIREWELL team summarized the occurrence and nature of firefighters' exercise and training injuries from current research.
