MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:    1 Corinthians 1:18
For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Rejoice and give thanks to the Lord of the Church -
Jon Wareham has accepted our Call,
Wendy Morris has declined our Call

Extending a "Call" to find a servant for our school or church is an exciting, prayerful, hopeful, and arduous effort both of time and emotion expended. The Call Committee spends time searching through a national database with more than 8500 names, and each person has pages of information on each servant. The committee looks at the most "likely" candidates who "fit" our ministry needs. Makes phone calls, sends emails, sets up Zoom interviews, on-campus visits, brings the name for the candidate to Faith Lutheran Voters who extend a Call, the candidate visits (twice in Wendy's case), and we wait and join in prayer with the candidate until the "Call" is accepted or returned (declined).

In a return email to Wendy Morris, I wrote,

"Thank you for all the time in prayer and visits you and your family gave to consider God's Call* to serve as principal at Faith. We were blessed through it all, disappointed but blessed.

While the Lord of the Church did not "summon*"  you to Faith, we rejoice with you in your new Call* as, principal. "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are Called*according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 (ESV)

*Called, Summoned— denoting someone whose participation or presence has been officially requested (for something); especially a request to which refusal is not an option.  (See Rom 1:1, 6–7; 8:28; 1 Cor 1:1–2, 24; Jude 1; Rev 17:14)

If the Call* is accepted, the servant position is filled, arrangements are made for their arrival. If the "Call" is returned (declined), the committee starts working again, which our team did minutes after receiving the declination from Wendy Morris. So, our work continues. Our entire team met less than 24 hours after receiving Wendy's letter to continue our search to Call our next principal. Please continue to support our Call Committee in prayer.

We thank You, and we praise You, Lord of the Church, Lord Jesus, that Your ways are NOT our ways. You called* one servant, Stephen, whose ministry lasted but a moment. Stephen's ministry ended in HIS stoning/death BY Saul. Then, You called* the persecutor, SAUL, summoning him on the road to Damascus. You touch him with momentary blindness so that You might open His eyes and heart to accept Your call* to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Indeed, Your ways are not our ways, and Your thoughts are not our thoughts (see Isaiah 55:8-11). While we cannot yet see whom You will send to us as our next principal, we trust that You will provide a servant to lead our school for the coming school year. We thank You for summoning* Jon Wareham to be a part-time teacher at our school and pray that Your blessing rests upon him and us, as together we seek to serve You by "connecting children to Jesus" in time for all eternity. Amen.

Jon Wareham accepts Call to Faith

March 20, 2022

Dear Pastor Schneider, Principal Stuckert, Mr. Couch, Mr. Doyle and Faith Lutheran Congregation Members:

Greetings in the Almighty Name of Christ our LORD!

Thank you for considering me as you sought servants of the LORD at Faith Lutheran Church and School.

After considerable prayer, seeking the will of our LORD, my wife and I believe that the Holy Spirit has led us to humbly accept your call to serve at Faith Lutheran Church and School. We look forward to serving Him in partnership with you.

I will remain in prayer to our Savior, in touch with Pastor Schneider and Principal Stuckert, and in thought of this wonderful opportunity as we have much work to do preparing for the coming exciting year.

God’s Grace and Peace be multiplied to you through Christ our LORD!

Sincerely in Christ,

Jon Wareham

Wendy Morris declines Call to Faith

March 21, 2022

Dear Faith Lutheran Congregation,

Thank you to each of you for your prayers as I prayerfully considered the Call to Faith Lutheran Church and School.  At this time, through prayer and reflection, I feel God is leading me to decline your Call.  I am confident that God is working out the details of the next principal to lead your school.  From the words of a favorite hymn of mine, I Am Trusting Thee, Lord Jesus, I am trusting Thee to guide me; thou alone shall lead, every day and hour supplying all my need (verse 4).

While you are not quite there, you are one step closer to who God wants as your next principal. Isaiah 26:4 reminds us to "trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock."  May you continue to be in prayer as God guides you to the perfect person to lead your ministry.

Trusting in God's Perfection,

Wendy Morris

New visit opportunity at The Table on Delk: http://thetableondelk.org/index.html on Saturdays from 11:00am to 1:00pm.  Our idea is to distribute prayer shawls.

The sex/human trafficking industry in metro Atlanta has grown to nearly $300M annually.  These women, men and children are being forced or trapped into a lifestyle where their lives don’t matter.  They feel that they have few or no choices and most see no way out.  The impact on their lives and the lives of their families has generational implications. The volunteers at The Table on Delk want to help end sexual exploitation in Atlanta.

Please continue to submit your requests for a Zoom visit via the following methods:
  1. Complete the ‘Hope Comfort Dog Request’ form via this link: https://forms.gle/8oknB7haY7VLGgtE9.  When a request is submitted, the information is sent directly to my organizer’s phone.
  2. Call the church office at (770) 973-8877 to set up a visit.  Janice Schaag and Susie Glass are excellent sources for getting this information to my group.
