Palliative Care & End of Life Toolkit

ACON has launched a toolkit for LGBTQ communities in discussing and planning for their end of life and palliative care.

As ACON's LOVE Project says:

"It’s best to start having end of life conversations before you need to, even if it feels a little uncomfortable at the time. This toolkit attempts to make it easier to open conversations about death and dying. It will give you ideas about things to consider and decide when it comes to your own death and how to support a loved ones wishes if faced with their death. We’re all going to die one day, so this toolkit is relevant to everyone, at any age. Looking at the issue through an LGBTQ+ lens helps us to explore our unique lived experiences and the different issues we face."

Landmark LGBTQ Health Centre

In the launch of the inaugural NSW LGBTIQ Health Strategy, the NSW Government recently announced they will invest $4.2m towards a Health Centre’s establishment, which will be led by ACON, NSW’s leading HIV and LGBTQ health organisation.

Funding for the Health Centre is among other key initiatives announced by the NSW Government, with the release of the NSW LGBTIQ+ Health Strategy. As well as the Health Centre, the NSW Government will also provide support for specialist health services for trans and gender diverse young people and provide investment to kickstart local education and training initiatives. In total, the government is investing $12 million in support of the Strategy.
