Our “Missing” Descendants –
Jan Hendrik te Selle (1838–1921)
In our last newsletter, we highlighted the 13 children of Harmen Jan te Selle (1844-1919) and their descendants. We had a wonderful response from several of those descendants, who were curious about their place in the TeSelle Family tree and eager to tell us about the relatives they did know.
This month we want to explore Harmen Jan's older brother, Jan Hendrik te Selle (1838-1921). Jan Hendrik married Johanna (Hanna) Berendina Onnink (1841-1929) on September 28, 1865, just days before they left the Netherlands for America along with Jan Hendrik’s brother, Harmen Jan. Jan Hendrik and Johanna Onnink had eight children that lived into adulthood. As we did last month, the name of each of Jan Hendrik’s children, along with each spouse, is shown below, which might offer a clue about the eventual surnames of their offspring. If you know you are descended from one of these people, or you think that you might be somehow connected to any TeSelle ancestor, we encourage you to contact us to exchange information and explore your family relationship.
