Calgary Firearms Centre Shotgun and Archery Leagues
 

Curious about trying the Women's and Youth Shotgun or Archery Leagues at the Calgary Firearms Centre? On Wednesday May 4th, at 4:30pm, AHEIA is hosting an Introduction to Leagues Evening at the Calgary Firearms Centre, which is a chance for those who may be interested to come try out the different leagues and see if they want to join a session.

This is an opportunity to learn something new, or improve on something you already know, and meet new people interested in the same thing you are!

Holdsworth-Nattrass Shoot
Attention all Trap Shooters!

The 2022 Calgary Firearms Centre Shoot Program is here! This year we are excited to be offering a full complement of registered trap shoots. Details of all the shoots are outlined in the Program. Youth Hunter Education Camp

 

The Youth Hunter Education Camp is a five-day event of fun-filled learning activities. Experts share their knowledge and provide instruction in the Alberta Conservation and Hunter Education Program, the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and much more.
 

The cost of the program includes lodging, breakfast, lunch and supper Monday through Thursday and breakfast on Friday. Also included is all instruction, course handbooks and testing for the various certifications as well as an A.H.E.I.A. camp t-shirt. Upon successful completion of the appropriate exams, students are certified in the Alberta Conservation and Hunter Education Program and the Canadian Firearms Program. They then qualify to apply for their Wildlife Identification Number (WIN Card) and are able to apply for their Minors Permit for firearms.

Outdoor Youth Seminar


Friday, August 19 - Sunday, August 21, 2022

The goal of the Outdoor Youth Seminar is to increase awareness of outdoor recreational opportunities. To this end the Alberta Hunter Education Instructors’ Association (AHEIA) holds their annual Outdoor Youth Seminar for young outdoor enthusiasts (ages 7 and up) and their parent(s) or guardian(s). All youngsters must be accompanied by at least one adult. The seminar is a two-day event filled with fun and learning activities. Some of the sessions the participants get to choose from are: outdoor cooking, archery, crossbow basics, rifle and shotgun shooting, black powder shooting, survival, introduction to trapping, fly fishing, GPS and geocaching, waterfowl hunting basics, and much more.

AHEIA Teachers Workshop

The AHEIA Teachers' Workshop is held annually at the AHEIA Alford Lake Conservation Education Center for Excellence. Attendees can certify to teach Hunter Education, Fishing Education, the Pleasure Craft Operator Training, and the International Bowhunter Education Program. These programs are offered in Alberta schools through the Alberta Education curriculum within the Careers and Technology Studies option, Natural Resources (NAT) Program or Careers and Technology Foundations Programs for Grades 5 to 9. The programs offered at the AHEIA Teachers' Workshop meet all requirements specified by the Alberta Education curriculum guide. This year the workshop is being held on July 21-24, 2022.

Have you inherited a firearm you don't want to keep, or have a firearm you no longer use, but would like to see it go to a good cause? AHEIA is a not-for-profit organization that provides conservation and outdoor education to the public, and your donation allows us to continue delivering and expanding our programs.

Pleasure Craft Operator Training
 
Get your Canadian Boating Licence with AHEIA's Online Pleasure Craft Program!

Anyone operating a motorized pleasure craft in Alberta is required to hold proof of education from a Transport Canada–approved course. Follow these 3 simple steps to get your PCOC (Boating Licence)

  1. Use our easy online course to study for your test on any internet-enabled device.
  2. Pass the online test (unlimited free retries, if needed). 
  3. Immediately print your temporary card while we mail you your permanent card.

This online course may be taken from any internet-enabled computer and can be paused and returned to at any time. There is a federally-required minimum time set for each module. You must view the slide modules for the required amount of time before being permitted to move onto the next module and complete the course.

It's almost that time again! From May 1st - September 30th, the Calgary Firearms Centre summer hours are in effect. Summer hours at the CFC means the range is open 12:00pm - dusk every Wednesday!

Parks Canada Discovery Pass

Parks Canada Discovery Passes and daily entry passes available from AHEIA. 

DIscovery passes are valid for a minimum of 1 whole year from the date of purchase, expiring on the last day of the month in which it was purchased.

Our Calgary and Edmonton offices are still closed to the public, but we will be processing purchases of these passes at the front door.
