Dear Parents, Caregivers and all of our Freyberg Whānau,

Following on from the Government's announcements yesterday, we would like to update you on a change to our Red level protocols which will be taking place at our kura from this Monday.

Since the beginning of the school year we have been unable to allow whānau on site after recommendations from the Ministry of Education. From Monday, we are happy to be able to welcome everyone back on site, in an outdoor capacity.

We do respectfully ask that when you come on site, you continue to practice social distancing from others where possible and do not enter classrooms or the office.

For the moment all other aspects of our Red Level protocols will remain the same, including:
  • Staggered both school breaks and end of day collection times. Siblings will still leave at the same time as the youngest child currently attending.
    • Teams One and Three Finish Time will continue to be at 2:55 p.m.
    • Teams Two and Four Finish Time will continue to be at 3:05 p.m.
  • Requiring all of our staff, and learners from Year 4 upwards to continue to wear face coverings when they are inside.
  • Enabling more accurate contact tracing and minimising risk by keeping our learners in smaller groups by not holding teamwide events such as assemblies or cross-over learning activities.
  • Ensuring that our classrooms remain well ventilated and that our tamariki spend as much time learning in outdoor contexts as possible.
  • Practicing physical distancing where possible and ensuring that onsite learners and staff follow recommended personal hygiene measures.
  • Ensuring that hand sanitiser stations are available at all entrances and encouraging frequent hand washing/sanitising.
  • Frequently disinfecting 'high touch' surfaces and maintaining diligent hygiene and cleaning practices across the kura.
  • Implementing a 'zero tolerance' approach to sickness across our kura and sending anyone who presents with any of the COVID-19 symptoms home immediately.
As always, our priority continues to be the wellbeing of our learners, wider school community and staff.  We would like to extend a special thank you for your support over the past eight weeks as we have been navigating the Red Level of the COVID-19 Protection Framework.

Noho ora mai,
