Call Sacramento Today to Keep Families Home!

Please take five minutes today to call our state legislators and urge them to to deliver on their commitment to fully fund debt relief for all tenants who are struggling due to COVID-related loss of work. Specifically, we are asking that they extend the rent relief program and protections against evictions until the end of August 2022. At the state level, we are calling Governor Newsom, Assemblymember and Speaker Anthony Rendon, and President of the State Senate Toni Atkins. Every extension of an eviction moratorium passed thus far has been negotiated among these three lawmakers, behind closed doors and at the last minute. Please remind them that the security of hundreds of thousands of families in California is at stake.

Today is a special call-in day for all PICO California federations. Call today if it works for you to be a part of this coordinated effort. But if you miss it, you can call anytime before the end of the month.

To make the call, click here and follow the instructions. A script is included. In the PICO CA Federation box, click on Faith in Action Bay Area Bay Area. You can also choose to email instead, or do both. For calls in Spanish, click here.

400 County Center, Redwood City
Please joinFixin’ SMC in paving the way to bringing  civilian oversight to the Sheriff’s Office. The goal of the Community Oversight Board would be to increase the following:
  1. Community and law enforcement dialogue and understanding
  2. Transparency
  3. Accountability when extreme measures are taken without cause
  4. Better use of our taxpayer dollars by lowering use-of-force and lawsuits
We look forward to seeing everyone in person for this family-friendly community event.  We’ll have light appetizers and drinks, special speakers with lived experiences to share, kid-friendly activities, and an opportunity to discuss how a civilian oversight board benefits everyone.
Please complete this registration form so we know how many people to expect: https://FixinSMC.org/kickoff
