Bid Writers available through CSO

As many of you will know, we ran a very successful Bid Writer project last year where we provided bid writer services to our members to enable to them to be able to submit high quality applications when applying for funding.

Unfortunately we are not able to provide this service free of charge anymore, however we will be able to provide bid writers to our members at a rate of £400 per day. Please note that CSO will receive no money for this service, as we will only be responsible for introducing you to the bid writer. After initial introductions CSO's involvement will finish and all other communications will be between the member and the bid writer.

The Dulverton Trust are pleased to announce that they are currently accepting applications for the next Dulverton Trust #iwill Fund panel in May 2022. The Dulverton Trust is working in partnership with the #iwill Fund, a £54 million joint investment between The National Lottery Community Fund and Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to support young people to access high-quality social action. Within the heritage sector, they are particularly interested in work which makes the sector accessible to diverse groups of young people. You can see what they have previously funded as part of the Dulverton Trust #iwill Fund here.

Share your story of COVID vaccine injustice

The UK has one of the highest rates of COVID vaccinations in the world. But in many countries the picture is very different - we’re living in a vaccine apartheid. This situation is costing lives overseas, and increasing the risk for patients here - allowing new variants to emerge which put enormous pressure on our already overburdened NHS.

Just Treatment organises patients to fight for universal access to the best healthcare that we all deserve. If you were directly impacted by vaccine injustice please get in touch and share your story if you have family in countries where there is a lack of vaccine access, or if you are a clinically vulnerable patient living in the UK.

Calling all Islington community members! Free training offer

The Local Wellbeing Networks project are looking to upskill people living and working in Islington and connect those looking to play an active role in their communities. They have 45 spaces on a FREE Introductory course on Community Organising. This course is a starting point for anybody who is interested in community organising and will help them begin to understand what community organising involves and what it looks like in the real world. Participants will be introduced to the foundations of listening, power, and action.

Following this introduction they have a small number of places on the full 6-month online training programme where participants will graduate from accredited courses on Community Organising and Network Building, delivered by professional trainers from Community Organisers and The Social Change Agency. The free course is part of a collaborative effort in Islington to tackle health inequalities in all localities and empower communities to create positive social change.

They are looking to offer this training to a diverse group of people, representing different backgrounds, cultures and experience who can take their learnings back into the community and kickstart some form of positive social action. In order to appropriately represent the borough, they are recruiting an equal number of participants from the 3 locality areas of Islington – North, Central & South.

Volunteer as a Magistrate

Many of the legal decisions made in England and Wales aren’t made by judges. They’re made by ordinary people who work in all sorts of fields and have no previous connection to the law profession. What they do have is a sense of fairness. They also have the ability to listen, make rational judgements and be proud representatives of their communities. These people are magistrates.

In terms of the specific requirements, you’ll need to be 18 to 74 years old and of good character with sound judgement.
