Following our funding call last summer, we are pleased to announce that we have agreed to fund 15 projects to start from April 2022. I would like to congratulate all successful applicants and I look forward to working with them and seeing their projects through to successful completion and implementation. I am particularly delighted at the number of early career researchers who have been successful. More details to follow soon.
In other news, we invite our colleagues and external partners to find out more about our work through a webinar series showcasing the high-quality applied research. These events will be hosted within our research themes and will run from May 3 to June 14.
We will also be hosting an online education series on multiple long-term conditions during May and June as we are leading nationally in this area.
Meanwhile, we are continuing to work on a range of COVID-19 projects. Our focus is now principally on supporting the national recovery from COVID, particularly looking at the impact of the virus on ethnic minority communities.

Professor Kamlesh Khunti, has been awarded with a CBE in the New Year’s Honours List. Kamlesh was also presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Leicestershire Live Innovation Awards 2022.
Professor Adam Gordon, Theme Lead Theme for Building Community Resilience and Enabling Independence, has been appointed as a Senior Investigator by the NIHR.
