Rembrandt's "Return of the Prodigal Son"
OUR CONDEMNATION IS CRUSHED BY GOD'S GRACE We assume people get what they deserve. We assume what goes around comes around. We assume God helps those who helps themselves. And all those assumptions must be crushed. Got does not operate on the principle of merit but of grace. Like gravity, grace is a constant force at work in how God deals with us and how he wants us to deal with others. No one is beyond the reach of God's grace. God never turns it off. When the weight of our sin makes us fearful of God's condemnation, he reveals his grace yet again. Join us this week to ponder this truth and grow in God's grace!

Our worship schedule is Sunday at 8:00 and 10:15 a.m. and mid-week Lenten services are Wednesdays at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m.
The 8am service will be livestreamed here
(During Lent we do not have a Thursday service.)

Our mid-week Lenten services will continue on March 30th. Our theme will be
“What to remember when you are seized with remorse” based on Matthew 27:3-4. Our fellowship dinner will be served by members of Lakeside Lutheran High School Operation GO. They will be serving a loaded hot dog bar and desserts. Operation GO is a mission-minded program that places LLHS students 16+ years old into various teams to GO and share the Gospel!

The Ministry Minute

Have you noticed this small section of the weekly email? It's a relatively new regular piece you can expect each week. It's written by me (Kelly, the Member Ministry Coordinator). I might use this little space to highlight a specific opportunity to serve, to recognize a team or a member for their service, to ask for your help with 'reaching out to the community with the news of the Savior' (as stated in the last part of our mission statement), or to simply share what I'm doing and learning as the newly hired Member Ministry Coordinator.
Today I'd like to share St. Luke's mission statement. I was unfamiliar with it until I started in this role. I never thought about our specific mission statement when I was only a member, but the more I learn about St. Luke's and the Watertown community, the more I understand the importance of each of us knowing what our mission statement is. St. Luke's mission statement: "A family of believers striving for growth, encouraging one another and reaching out to the community with the good news of the Savior". I tend to like participles, so as a memory trick I commit those words (striving, encouraging, reaching) to memory and then can usually fill in the other words. What tricks do you have for helping you remember important passages and phrases?
Special Voter’s Meeting – On March, 27 at 11:30am we will be holding a voter’s meeting to discuss and hopefully approve a worship coordinator position for St. Luke’s. The worship coordinator would work with our pastors and musicians to help us continue to strive for excellence in public worship and use even more of the musical gifts of those in our congregation. This will be a half-time position. If you would like to read more about this proposal, there is more information on the secretary’s desk.
We will be placing a call for a 7th Grade Teacher/Athletic Director at the meeting on March 27th.
The WELS International Youth Rally is going to be in Tennessee, June 28 - July 1. Registration is going to be opening soon. This is open to all Teens who are graduating 8th grade this Spring through those graduating High School this Spring. Please contact Pastor Redfield  to register.

Suicide. Suffering. Science and Ethics. Keeping your children in the faith. Parenthood’s burdens and blessings. Chances are one or more of these topics may have touched your life, yet how often are they approached from a distinctly Lutheran perspective? These are also all modern-day issues discussed recently on the Life Challenges Podcast from Christian Life Resources. Check it out, give a listen, and perhaps you’ll find yourself better prepared the next time you face tough issues like these. Find it at lifechallenges.us or on your favorite podcast platform.
