Dear Lighthouse Community,
As this is our third time, you know the drill! Here is all you have to know about what happened at Lighthouse in the last month.

Lighthouse Updates

News

To start, we would like to state that Lighthouse acknowledges the situation between Ukraine and Russia and fully supports Ukraine
We are actively working on organising an event this month, together with other student societies, with the aim of raising awareness of the current crisis by inviting knowledgeable speakers. Additionally, we will equip attendees with ideas on how to get involved and lend support during these times and highlight the important work that the Save Ukraine Student Movement is doing.
We will publish more information on that soon on our social media as well.

Now onto some internal news:
  • the second general meeting of the semester has been planned for tonight - the new values for Lighthouse will be decided collectively!
  • we are preparing ourselves to say goodbye to our Marketing Head Lucina Sapone, as well as our President Chiara Richter - we will communicate the results of the succession in the next newsletter

Business Development Department
After the successful event held in February, the department is focusing on two main objectives:
  • producing an insight report to see how companies are heading towards more sustainable business models
  • planning an event about the situation in Ukraine in collaboration with the Save Ukraine Student Movement - we'll keep you posted about it

Sales Department
Associates have been working on new sales materials, and overall harmonized the sales reach-out strategy. The department also created a collaboration with the ESCP Career Office, to publish job offers from our clients.

Three new consulting projects were brought: our consultants will soon work for
Modus Intarsia, Birds of Change and Swoop Energy. Congratulations to Luca Brancaleoni and the whole team for this achievement!

Marketing Department
This month, Basundhara Dutta made a brand new brochure to be used by the BD and Sales department to present Lighthouse! Moreover, as the Head of Department and several associates will be leaving the association soon, the department will be completely reshaped. Get excited for some change!

Human Resources Department
HR associates and head are currently working on developing skill-development workshops for all Lighthouse associates! The first meeting was hosted by Mineun Joung, who shared her experience working in sales. The next one will be a public speaking workshop - happening both in presence (Paris Campus) and online, for everyone to participate!

Associates of the Month

We hope you are ready for a bit of a switch... This time we don't have one, but two associates of the month.
Everyone give a round of applause to
Paul-Antoine Calmel and Chiara Taroni, from the consulting department!

This month goes to them for brilliantly concluding the
GerneOhne project (ended on the 24th of February): they were able to perform an excellent analysis of the problem and pitch it perfectly. The client was enthusiastic about the final presentation and report, and he stated they went beyond his expectations. Well done!

Consultancy Projects

Missions in Progress:

  • Positive Carbon (food tech - 2020, Ireland): in order to fight food waste, Positive Carbon proposes a fully automated waste monitoring system for hotels and big restaurant groups. This way, the clients can track and log all food waste and change their purchasing habits/save money and reduce food waste.

    • Started: December

The final objective is to raise awareness and make biodiversity mainstream, by changing the reputation of these birds considered harmful.

Alumni Section

In this month's alumni section, we are excited to introduce a brilliant Lighthouse alumna - Heloïse Broncard.

Before joining lighthouse as a research and consulting associate, Heloïse did her bachelor's in Bocconi and worked in a plastic recycling start-up and a public financial institution.

She then joined ESCP for a master’s in management and chose the sustainable finance specialization. She also worked in two investment funds as a sustainability analyst where she was able to explore both the public and private finance fields.

This year she decided to team up with other professionals in the field and create
re.boot.
Re.boot is an 8-session practical sustainable finance boot camp in which students can learn and discuss their views and ideas with industry professionals and professors. The 8 sessions tackle questions such as: why do we need sustainable finance? Who are the main actors and what is their role? What are the limits and myths of sustainable finance? How can we take action as workers and consumers? As well as explore regulation, new business models and tools needed to measure environmental impacts of a firm.

Reboot was created because of the lack of sustainable finance boot camps that are practical and hands-on. Heloïse found that there are many skills that aren’t taught in general courses, that many employers are looking for and expect. Although she always wanted to work in sustainability, she was unsure of exactly what she could do to have the biggest impact. To help those with similar doubts, re.boot gives students the tools to choose their ideal employer and avoid greenwashed positions. Although the deadline for the most recent boot camp has passed, they are planning on organizing 2 more this year! If you are interested, follow

re.boot on LinkedIn and wait for the new application process to be opened. To give you a better chance of being accepted make sure to show your motivation and free up your schedule! And don’t worry if you don’t have lots of sustainable finance experience, the organizers aim to mix different backgrounds to make the sessions more informative for all participants.

Héloïse has a little advice for the associates as well! Although it can be hard, try your best to not get influenced by what everyone else is doing: while consulting and strategy is the right path for some it might not be for you. Stick to what you are interested in and what you do best, and success will follow!

And that's a wrap! As always, see you next month with brand new updates!
Stay healthy and safe,

Your Lighthouse HR Team
