March 2022
At the Boathouse with Stephanie

It's great to be back on the water!

A few exciting  developments in our youth programming to share.  First, we had a great "Learn to Row" event at the
Holyoke YMCA and hope it will be just one of many introducing river recreation to youth there.

Second, we now have transportation to the boathouse for Holyoke High students on the PVTA bus!  Many thanks to Jesus and Dawn at PVTA for making this happen.

Third, we are excited to be officially announcing our partnership with
STEM to Stern to provide more middle school rowing opportunities!  We will be partnering with two area middle schools and run a 2day/week rowing program with snacks and a STEM activity at each session.  STEM to Stern programming will be part of our larger middle school program.

You can support this initiative by buying coffee!!  I love coffee and absolutely support the sale of fair trade organic coffee - especially when we get half of the sale price donated back to our program. Contact me for your caffeine needs today.

And now the moment you've been waiting for... our on the water Spring schedule!

All participants should register online -  you do not need to pay online -  so you will be in our database, have signed a waiver and let us know you are participating.

Hope to see everyone in the next several weeks.

Introducing Rosie, Our New Youth Rowing Coach
Help us welcome our new Youth Rowing Coach Rosie Lopez!

She's already jumped in whole-heartedly and helped organize and run the Holyoke YMCA Learn to Row event March 10th. When asked about herself, she says she's excited about this position and making more connections within the community:

"I like to Row, I started in middle school (at Holyoke Rows) and I enjoyed how much fun I had while engaging with my peers and being driven by each other’s motivation. It really helps your mindset change from “can I do this?” to “I can do this” and overall that’s beneficial to everyone."

General Trivia:
1) From Holyoke
2) Favorite color is blue
3) Favorite movie is Grease
4) Definitely Dogs (sorry cats)

If you see Rosie around the boathouse, please say HI!

Hi everyone!

Thanks for all the responses to our committee interest survey. If you haven’t filled it out yet, you still can, and if you ever want to find out more about committees you can always email me directly. We’ll be reaching out to chat with folks who expressed interest and setting up initial committee meetings this month.

I, personally, cannot wait to be back on the water. It is 100% my happy place, and I hope to see all of you at the boathouse soon!”
