"It was SO good! The Beethoven/Ode to Joy was very possibly the very best I've ever heard - moved me to tears!"
KWTU listener, on Monday's "A Concert for Ukraine" from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus

Here's what's In The Moment this week.
AROUND THE STATION
StoryCorps interviews start TODAY! The crew has arrived, their equipment is set up at the Greenwood Cultural Center, and they're ready to record YOUR stories! Tulsa is the current stop for the StoryCorps Mobile Tour, as they cross the country, capturing the kind of intimate, two-person interviews you hear Friday mornings during Morning EditionReserve time for YOUR StoryCorps conversation HERE! Local support for the StoryCorps Mobile Tour is provided by a generous gift from the Herrin Crockett Family Fund.

We want to play your favorites. Are you partial to Puccini? Devoted to Dvořák? Stuck on Stravinsky? It's nearly time for Bach's Lunch on KWTU Classical 88.7, when we play your classical requests! Submit yours HERE (with a dedication, if you wish!), then listen Tuesday, March 29th between 11am - 1pm for your selection.

Is it worth the risk? Today at noon on Intelligence Squared on KWGS 89.5 FM: Is confrontation with Russia worth it? Listen to arguments for -- and against -- increased U.S. involvement in the war in Ukraine.

"The car could not move, but it had to go." Got a car/truck/motorcycle you'd like to donate to Public Radio Tulsa, but worried because it isn't drivable? NOT A PROBLEM! We'll tow that hunk-o-junk for free, you'll get garage space back, and Public Radio Tulsa will get the proceeds!  That's just what Ellen did, as she shares with us HERE.
THE LOCAL BEAT
Horn enters senate race. A Democrat has entered the race for Jim Inhofe's senate seat. Former 5th District Congressional Representative Kendra Horn has announced she will run for the seat Inhofe says he will leave in January. The race already has drawn several high-profile Republican candidates.

Lambda Legal files suit against Stitt. The national LGBT+ civil rights organization sued Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt on Monday over his decision to prohibit the state from issuing birth certificates listing a nonbinary option or allowing transgender people to change their gender designation.

Sweetheart deal. Oklahoma has a contract with an electric vehicle startup company to buy 1,000 vehicles over five years. But officials waived competitive bidding to win the contract. According to reporting from The Frontier, a spokesperson for Governor Stitt says the contract could be considered a kind of job-creation incentive.
KEEPING BODY & SOUL TOGETHER
When voices are silenced. The books themselves may change, but the act of banning challenging literature is still with us. This month in Imprint from Tulsa City-County Library Regional Manager Rebecca Howard: What we lose when a book is banned (and a list of banned books to help find our way back).

Endemic: Is that a good thing? And if it is, COVID-wise, are we there yet? In Goats and Soda, NPR tackles what it means when a virus becomes endemic in the population.

You'll get my mask when you pry it from my cold, dead hands. So, speaking of COVID...anyone else still masking? It can feel awkward, just you in a room full of people whose faces you can actually see. NPR talked to folks who haven't given up their facewear yet, either.

To me, you are purrfect, OwlKitty. These are trying times. Let's go out with some cat videos, shall we? Some really funny cat videos, courtesy of a green screen, a videographer with some time on his hands, and an enormous black cat named OwlKitty.

And please...stay safe, friends.
