Jovenes Adelante’s English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Tutoring Program needs English-speaking volunteers to provide our students with extra support in developing their English language skills. With a time commitment of only an hour a week for three months, you can work one-on-one or in small groups, in person or remotely, to help JA students improve their listening, speaking, pronunciation, and conversation skills.
The English Tutoring Program is not intended to replace formal English as a Foreign Language class, but rather to provide extra practice in learning an additional language. We match EFL Tutors with students who want to practice English with a proficient English speaker. Being a tutor requires flexibility in your approach to student learning and a recognition of individual learning styles. It is great if you have a working knowledge of Spanish, but this is not necessary in order to participate in the tutoring program. The students’ oral proficiency levels range from beginning to advanced.
