Do Not Be Afraid

Dear Riverview Church Family and Friends:

CRUSHED. How appropriate our theme for Lent has become. Just when we thought the covid threat was almost over, a war starts in Europe and fuels the increase in gasoline and other commodity prices. Have you been tempted to ask, How can the Lord be " working for the good of those who love him " (Romans 8:28) in all these things as we witness destruction and death? We need to look ahead to the end of this Lenten journey and hear the words of the angel on Easter morning: "Do not be afraid..." Matthew 28:5. As the weight of sin burdens us, and the threat of world events frightens us, look to our Savior. He took the burden and punishment for our sins upon Himself. He is in control of His world and will never abandon the people of His Church. Do not be afraid, the angel said. Wonderful advice for us all in these "crushing" times.
Stay up to date on all the happenings in our church and school ministry. Read the News & Notes that comes with this email.

May the Lord watch over you and yours!
Pastor Dennis Belter

  • Depression / Anxiety Support Group: Our group exists to break down barriers and stereotypes that prevent people from discussing mental health challenges in a church setting. We feel comfortable asking for prayers for our physical wellbeing but not our mental wellbeing. If you have a brain, you have mental health. At present, we meet on Saturdays from 10:00 am until noon at St. Peter. We at 922 Ministries would like it known that we would be willing to help other churches or WELS members start their own mental health ministry. You may contact me, Andi Paap, at youmeanimnotalone@yahoo.com or Pastor Michael Ewart, lifegroup director, at pastormichael@922ministries.com.
  • WELS/ELS Singles Facebook Group: If you're single (unmarried, divorced, widowed) and looking to socialize, make friends, or enjoy fellowship with other singles who share your faith, we encourage you to join our Facebook group! We are an active group sharing Biblical encouragement, prayers, Lutheran memes, personal victories, and food.
