*SEATS DEPENDENT ON THE NUMBER OF NOMINATIONS RECEIVED IN OTHER SECTORS. TOTAL BOARD MEMBERS PER THE BYLAWS MUST NOT EXCEED 12. 

Minimum Qualifying Criteria
Every member of the Board of Directors shall be nineteen (19) or more years of age at the time of election or appointment and shall be a voting member (or official representative or alternate) in good standing.

Nomination Process
All nominees who meet the minimum qualifying criteria will come forward as candidates to the Board of Directors, no later than 15 days prior to the Annual General Meeting. If you believe your values and goals align with those of the Tourism Langley Association and you have the passion and experience to be an effective Board of Directors member, please submit a completed Nomination Form (link provided below) no later than April 11th, 2022.

Expectations
Tourism Langley has two full-time staff who run the day-to-day operations of the office. This allows the Board of Directors to operate under a Policy Board Model. The Board assists to establish strategic direction for the organization along with guiding principles and policies (including mission/vision, strategic plan, annual operating plan) but delegates responsibility and authority for implementation. The board monitors compliance with plan, guiding principles and policies and ensures that staff and the board alike are held accountable for their performance. Before offering or agreeing to run for election to the Board of Directors, consideration should be given to the following. Board of Directors members are expected to:

  • Attend all meetings; Tourism Langley Association’s Board of Directors meets at a minimum quarterly for 1.5 hours. 
  • Represent their industry sector at Board meetings, providing written or oral reports as needed, attend official events, and/or communicate with other members in the industry they represent.
  • Participate on committees of the Board, and Committees of staff Directors. Task forces and ad-hoc committees are also established to consider emerging issues for Tourism Langley.
  • Serve on the Board of Directors without remuneration. No member of the Board of Directors shall directly or indirectly receive any profit from their position. Board of Directors members shall be reimbursed for expenses necessary and reasonably incurred, as approved by the Board.
Term
The term of office is two (2) years.

Tourism Langley is a non-profit society, governed by an independent Board of Directors which is mandated to deliver effective marketing strategies that increase visitation & extended stays, generate new revenues, and increase transactions for businesses in the Township of Langley. We equally strive to deliver effective programs and share tourism opportunities with Township of Langley residents.
