On March 16, 2022, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and the entire Pierce County Community suffered a great loss with the passing of Deputy Dom Calata. Our most heartfelt condolences go out to the department and Deputy Calata’s family. Gone but not forgotten.

Recreation Center to Get Much Needed Repairs
Acquired by the City from the YMCA in the early 1990s, the Recreation Center is now in need of important repairs. The City Council has recently approved a contract for the repair and restoration of the Recreation Center building.

Ever wanted to launch your own book club? Now you can with the Puyallup Public Library’s Take-Home Book Club Kits. The Library has three available to check out, and they are a great way to discover a new novel and promote discussion with friends and family.

City Prepares for School Lahar Drill 

On April 29, 2022, Puyallup along with partnering school districts and jurisdictions will launch the biggest lahar evacuation drill in the country. From 9 am to 12 pm, students from area schools will walk the evacuation route, and get a hands-on experience with what a real-life scenario could look like.

City Website to Get a Redesign

Something new is about to grace the pages of the City’s website, www.CityofPuyallup.org. For the past several months, City staff have been working with their website vendor, CivicPlus, on a website redesign. This Spring, users of the City’s website will be treated to an updated, modern look that will be more intuitive and easier to navigate.
