Respondus Lockdown Browser

Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that increases the security of online testing in Moodle. When students use LockDown Browser to access a quiz, they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, access other applications, or close a quiz until it is submitted for grading. Tests created for use with LockDown Browser cannot be accessed with standard browsers either. LockDown Browser works much like a standard browser, but some options have been removed or work differently. Visit our AIDE Resources Page for more information.

Moodle

Moodle Upgrade.

A quick reminder that the upcoming Moodle upgrade is coming up at the end of May 2022. To complete the upgrade, Moodle will be unavailable from Friday, May 27, through Monday, May 30. During that time, there will be no access to the site. Please plan accordingly. We will send out a reminder as we get closer to the upgrade.

We are excited about what the upgrade will provide. Check out What's New to see all the changes and features.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this upgrade process.

Moodle Quizzes - Check Your Settings

There are so many ways to use the Quiz activity in Moodle! AIDE recommends this setting below

Current Quiz Setting:

The current default setting is “Attempts must be submitted before time expires, or they will not be counted.”  This can cause a student to save without submitting without even realizing it. And it means you'll see that the student completed the quiz - but you will have no way to access their results.

Recommended Quiz Setting:

Select  "open attempts are automatically submitted." This way, if a student accidentally saves (instead of "submitting"), when the exam time ends, the student's work will automatically be submitted for you to grade or review.

Extend Moodle Access past it’s official end date

If you need a Moodle course site to remain available - because you have students completing an IP, or for any other reason, you can send the AIDE team an email and request extended access for your student(s). Learn how to Request Extended Access to a Moodle Course For Students With an IP.

Office 365

Outlook Calendar Events

When creating an event in the Outlook Calendar Web App, a Microsoft Teams Meeting link is automatically embedded into the invitation. If you are using another platform to host a virtual meeting, such as Webex, it may be helpful to turn off this option. In this tutorial, you will learn how to turn off Microsoft Teams for events created in the Outlook Calendar Web App. Review our Turning Off Microsoft Teams in the Outlook Calendar Web App document to learn how to disable the feature.

WebEx

WebEx Account Personalization

Limit distractions and maintain privacy in your current surroundings by Using a Virtual Background in WebEx. You can blur your background, change your background, or add a background image during your meeting, event, or training session.

Discover how to edit your thumbnail image, pin specific personal rooms to your dashboard, and more by learning how to Navigate your Webex Dashboard.

Your Display Name can be changed by Editing Your WebEx Meetings Profile.

WebEx FAQ's

Q: I can't find the Breakout session for my class meetings set up through the WebEx connector?

A: Breakouts need to be added manually to WebEx connector sessions.

Q: I get the error message, "Your WebEx authorization has expired. Please reauthorize WebEx ", when I try to create my class meetings using the WebEx Connector in Moodle?

A: Please go to your WebEx Connector, sign out of the application, and sign back in to fix the issue.

Q: Why do my students get the access denied error message when joining my class?

A: Students can only join Remote WebEx class sessions as a guest. They will not be able to join if they "sign-in" or "login."

If you require students to host their WebEx meeting sessions, students can sign in through bhccstudents.webex.com and not bhcc.webex.com to compose their meetings.

Did you know you can access most BHCC apps from the Onelogin Portal?

That's right, you can access your Moodle (referred to as Moonami), Digication ePortfolio, Panopto, and WebEx accounts all from one place. The BHCC Onelogin Portal is a great link to bookmark in your browser. Access the portal now: bhcc.onelogin.com.
