Dear Holy Cross Families,

Two weekends ago, Father Vincent announced the bittersweet news that he has been reassigned to St. John the Evangelist parish in Viera, Florida and that his last weekend here at Holy Cross School and Parish will be March 26-27th.  In only three short years, he has become an integral part of our school community.  Not only does he teach our students important spiritual lessons during his homilies at Mass but he also helps with morning arrival duty, visits classrooms for regular “Ask a Priest” Q & A sessions, and has also been offering a weekly cooking class every Thursday afternoon for our 6th-8th graders.  When we began the 4th-8th grade electives program this school year, we invited volunteers from the school and parish community to share their talents with the oldest students in our school.  Father Vincent was one of the very first people to let me know that he would love to contribute to the program by sharing his love of cooking with students once a week.  He has inspired many students to learn more about healthy eating, to experiment with ingredients, and to continue cooking for their families at home! Father Vincent, please know that you will always hold a special place in our hearts and that you will be greatly missed!

If you would like to join us in celebrating Father Vincent, please join us for Mass and a farewell lunch on Sunday, March 27th at 10:30 a.m.
Another group of talented individuals that I would like to recognize is the cast and crew of our Jr. High Play that took place this past weekend.  They did a fantastic job and we are so proud of them!  Thank you to our director, Adam Ridenour, and our technical director, Ashley Parmelee, for putting in countless hours in order to help our students prepare for this experience.  Thank you, also, to our Art teacher, Zack Okello, for the many hours he put into creating backdrops for the play and to Tony Bajuyo, parent to five Crusaders, for the set boxes that he built.  Thank you to all parents, teachers, and volunteers who helped supervise, transport, fold programs and T-shirts, sell tickets, and feed our cast and crew!  The play could not have happened without the participation of each and every one of you. Enjoy the pics here!
Have a great week!

Queridas familias,

This Lent for me has certainly started off in a strange way. As I mentioned last week at all of the Masses, I have been reassigned to St. John the Evangelist Parish in Viera, Florida. I knew that I would receive a new assignment this year and I was expecting the move to take place sometime in the summer. However, circumstances have changed that require me to be in Florida sooner rather than later. As a result, my last weekend here at Holy Cross will be March 26-27. As Fr. Jim mentioned last week there will be a reception after the 10:30 am Mass on that weekend as well.

It is certainly bittersweet to be leaving my first parish. This place holds many firsts for me and I could never forget them. The first time I did many of the sacraments, my first wedding, my first baptism, my first time hearing confessions, my first Mass, my first anointing, my first funeral. So many different firsts (and seconds and thirds). They have all left a great impact on me and I will always treasure the lessons and memories from this parish as I move on in my future ministries. Personally, these past three years have been joyful but they do seem like they went by too quickly. Know that I consider my time here with you all to have been a great blessing for me and that I will hold dear the years that we spent worshiping together. Please keep me in your prayers during this transition and also keep in prayer the people of St. John the Evangelist parish as they prepare for my arrival.
