Jonathan announced last week that we would be embarking on a new sermon series: "Steadfast" from 1 Peter. In preparation for this series, I began reading R.C. Sproul's Expositional Commentary on the book. I was struck by these words: "When Peter writes to the church about faith and trust in the providence of God in the midst of suffering, he is speaking not in abstract terms but from the vantage point of one who has been called personally to endure such sufferings himself. He is one who testifies beyond speculation, as one who was an eyewitness, testifying not to cleverly devised myths or fables but to what he had seen with his eyes and heard with his ears ... A letter from a man such as this is a treasure for the church."
I'm sure you'll agree as we go along that this is indeed a treasure and a letter of great encouragement to remain steadfast and live faithfully for Christ.

TABLE TALK
Be sure to join us each Wednesday for Table Talk, a ministry of fellowship, Bible study, and prayer. We begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center with a catered dinner. The cost for that is $9 per person with a family limit of $25. After supper we have our time of teaching including classes for the different ages of our children. We conclude the night with prayer. Don't miss these valuable and enjoyable times together.

Each month I'll use this space to suggest a book to you. March's book is one that is timely for those of you who are in the Fellowship Sunday School Class. The next study for the class will be on church history, and I'm using this book to help lead our discussions. This is a great tour of church history whether you've spent much time on the topic or coming at it for the first time. Buy a copy wherever good books are sold. What are you reading these days?
